======================
I've had an idea. Let's decide who the greatest players in Avalanche history are.
  • You decide what "greatest" means.
  • Only judge players based on their Avalanche careers. This means no extra points for Sakic's time with the Nordiques, or Ray Bourque's time with the Bruins.
  • Poll will be open for a few days.
  • Each time you vote, suggest a player who should be added for the next round.
  • If there's no consensus on who should be added I'll just pick the next player who's played the most games.
  • Here's a list of everyone: Colorado Avalanche all-time player list at hockeydb.com

It's gotta be Kamensky. he was so good on those early teams. sweetest backhand in an Avs uni...until Rantanen.

Varly over Kamensky, even though Val was really good. But this is a greatest Avs list, and Varly was here longer and more important to the team.

Sometimes I still feel bad for Drury being traded. But PL was pretty adamant about trading players who held out.

Would be interesting to see the next choice votes for everyone voting Lemieux/Kamensky/Deadmarsh to see if vote splitting among the old Cup winners vs long-term non-winners is going to put Varly ahead

I think thats certainly happening. I can see now why some countries do run off elections where candidates have to get +50%. Makes sense. If Varly “wins” this with 27% - oof.

I’d love to see a runoff between Varly and Lemieux (since he’s the vote leader among the old core)

At least Blake, EJ and to a slightly lesser extent Gabe we’re all above 40% for their wins. I do think Gabe vs Foote would’ve been an interesting runoff

Maybe Kamensky and Deadmarsh votes would go Varly before Lemieux but I suspect Varly would lose a runoff but sneak in here because of the split

Yelle and Hinote can't be that far off. Klemm also has double Cups, but he's one of those guys who are difficult to place for being too dime a dozen.
I also loved the hell out of Eric Messier (playing both offense and defense) and was bummed that we had to include Aaron Miller in addition to Adam Deadmarsh in the Rob Blake trade.

My thoughts exactly. Love me some Varly, but he ain't close to Lemieux imo.

He is a hard one there, so is Staz, but, sorry, if this list is our HOF. They don't qualify.

Mediocrity just doesn't qualify, can't, no f***in participation trophies. NONE

It would be like if I joined the Army from 2001 to 2010 and never went to war. I think I'd never tell anyone I f***ing served lol.

I voted Deadmarsh, but I could have voted Lemieux or Kamensky just as easily. Ozolinsh would come after them, then Varly, then Drury. I guess I have the opposite of recency bias.
