======================
I've had an idea. Let's decide who the greatest players in Avalanche history are.
  • You decide what "greatest" means.
  • Only judge players based on their Avalanche careers. This means no extra points for Sakic's time with the Nordiques, or Ray Bourque's time with the Bruins.
  • Poll will be open for a few days.
  • Each time you vote, suggest a player who should be added for the next round.
  • If there's no consensus on who should be added I'll just pick the next player who's played the most games.
  • Here's a list of everyone: Colorado Avalanche all-time player list at hockeydb.com

A toss up between EJ and Tanguay. Tanguay swung it for the cup winning goal.

Adding players to the poll gets real dicey at this point.

I'd prefer to add a handful of guys before Duchene. I guess start with Stastny. Then I might go with Varly. Maybe someone like Drury.

Where it gets a little tricky is guys like Jon Klemm and Stephane Yelle with two Cups. Because you know the eight playoff games Duchene played for the Avs? Yelle even played in six of those in 2010.

I was split between Tanguay and EJ but went with the Condor. He's just been with this team for so long, through so much. And with the news that he won't likely be getting a contract it means an era is over. We'll miss you EJ.

This is the first one that's tough for me.

Rob Blake's peak of all-around play was probably higher than the other 6 candidates, but his best years were in LA and he wasn't on the Avs for too many years. I always imagine him in my mind's eye as a King.

Tanger was part of the dominant Tanguay - Sakic - Hejduk line and boy could he ever pick a pass and occasionally score as well. For those old enough to remember it (I'm in that category), I'm sure those two Game 7 goals color our opinion.

EJ has the longest service to the team out of any, but is probably the lowest of seven in terms of skill level if we average his years at the club as a whole.

From a personal perspective, I think my favorite of the 7 to watch was probably Ozo, with the all-around game of Deader in second, and OG Val in third.

I'll go Tanguay for now, but picking #11 will be extremely for me as well.
