You guys have kicked our butts two years in a row now:

You're not going to win this year. ;)

First, I wanted to thank everyone for taking part last year (the poolies, the staff, the tweeters, the commenters, and even the looky looks) it was a very fun pool. And we failed to start a WW3 type war between the readers and writers, so that was good.

This year we're looking for 5 of the best HFboard members to challenge us in a simple points based pool right here on the boards.

Make sure to enter by tweeting @HockeysFuture with #WJCPool and your HFboards username. Everyone that tweets will be put into a randomizer, and the top 5 results will be this years challengers, If you participated as a challenger before you are still eligible so go ahead and tweet!

As a bonus I'm personally putting up a $20* Amazon Gift Card for the McKenna Cup Winner (That's the individual points champ--Lehner won the gift card last year). Feel free to PM me any questions or concerns, and follow me on twitter @fgiarc just because.

*$20 Canadian, as our dollar is so bad haha.

I'll be putting all the names into the randomizer tomorrow evening, so if you want to take part, you still have time! Just tweet us @HockeysFuture with #WJCPOOL and your username.

Tuesday edit: I just went through all the tweet entries, and inputted all the names into a randomizer... here are the lucky 5 that will represent the Challengers:

Zemgus26
Youthmovement
GrandLarseny
Episkey
Canada4Gold

Congratulations to those 5--and thank you to everyone for taking part. I really wish we could get all of you in here. I'll send a note off to all the Challengers, and HF Staff involved, and I'll do the draft order at 1am est so we can get things going for tomorrow.

Congrats to Zemgus on winning the draft lottery. Feel free to kick things off whenever you can. Lets try for a quick and fun draft here, so if you guys think you'll be away feel free to send in lists to someone you trust. Let me know beforehand though if it's not me!

Tip: Sending an email instead of a PM letting the next person know they are up in the draft seemed to work great last time.

With the second overall pick, I will take Mikko Rantanen, Team Suomi

And Craig emailed me to select from Team Canada, Mitchell Marner

We're just zooming!

Fun facts: In last years pool, Nylander went 6th, Matthews went 26th (also picked by C4G--he really likes Matthews!), Virtanen 27th, Rantanen 60th, and the biggest jump... Point was picked 78th last year.

Matthews is a steal at number 5!

yeah I have a clear top 3 and Rantanen and Strome slotted in at 4 and 5, in the 3 pools I'm in already I have Rantanen twice and Strome twice, when I saw I was 5th here I groaned figuring I'd get one of them again, psyched to get Matthews at 5.

Are you SURE you don't want Strome? We could always make a trade. You know, just for consistency in your pools. :sarcasm:

I think I jinxed the pool when I said we were zooming haha. Just a reminder, if you're not going to be on the boards for a while (it is the holiday season) send in a list to cover you for 2 picks with a pm or email titled "List" so I won't open it until it's your pick.

So there's no clock for this?

That might be hard to do this on time if we go 10+ hours without a pick like right now

We should be okay as long as lists are getting sent in when you know you're going to be away for a bit-- I think we're just facing a slight logistical issue since Dave is in Switzerland (and it's 2 am there), but if he sends in a large list things will be fine and avoid this issue in the future. We moved pretty quick with those first 8 picks, and have a week to do this (really we have 9 days but I'd really like to get this done before Christmas).

With the ninth overall pick, Team Hahn sincerely apologizes for the wait, and selects Christian Dvorak.

Good luck to all involved, I've had my eye on joining this for a year now since I joined the HF family.
