Just too many factors in play for one more year with Hank. I'm a bit surprised he doesn't want to be the backup here, but I'm also not him

Now that he's being bought out it's really sinking in, wow. Sucks.

It does suck but it's also the right move. Once Henrik has moved on the makeover is complete and the ties for all intent and purposes to the Torts and AV years are severed. There is one player left over from the Torts years Kreider and Kreider wasn't a favorite of his and two players from the AV years--Kreider and Brendan Smith and Smith's time is short too.

kinda hard to say what they will or won't need unless you're literally Jeff Gorton

I doubt henrik or georgiev would say it worked well. It’s hard to even practice with 3 goalies. It would also be pretty embarrassing for the rangers to keep henrik to have him only start 10-15 games next season.

Not much choice if he wasn't ready to ride off into the sunset. Having 3 goalies clearly isn't a situation that anyone involved wanted to continue with, otherwise we wouldn't be at this point. Having dead cap on the books next year sucks but it's not really a problem unless they go wild with the cap space they've opened up in the last few days.

Wish he had a cup but at the very least I wish he had gotten a final farewell tour. Real shame.

It's really weird how I still haven't forgiven Sather for trading Leetch, but I remember months ago when the idea of buying out Lundqvist was first discussed here, I said Gorton would have have to gigantic balls of steel to, while ultimately the right decision, have to be the guy known for buying out the best player in franchise history.

But man if this is all to accommodate Georgiev im not a fan. He’s so overrated. Trade him. We have a great history of finding backup goalies.

Should have told Hank to either accept being 3rd goalie or mutual termination of his contract if he really was.

the rangers will have more Money than they’ll even know what to do with in 2021-22 has nothing to do with money.
