Better hope Shesty gets the Gibson contract and not the Hank one then huh?
When the time comes, that would be fine. Can't spend so much cap there and expect to win anything

If they buy out Lundqvist there is still 1.5M in cap tied up in 21-22
I find it pretty hilarious you're talking about anything regarding the cap as if you have any idea what you're talking about when earlier in this thread you said Hank should renegotiate his contract, unaware that that isn't allowed in the CBA. Which is an extremely basic and very well known thing about the state of contracts in the NHL for the last 20 years or so.lol, you actually think those RFA are going to chew up all that cash?
the thread speaks for itself. It’s you vs everybody.
always liked Talbot and wish they kept him.Nice comments from Cam Talbot about how Lundqvist still inspires him.
Talbot inspired by Lundqvist, tries to keep Flames alive in Game 6
He was an impending UFA and didn't want to be a backup forever. Hank's extension had been signed and he was still playing at a high level. Unfortunately it wasn't in the cards to keep him. He got a nice deal in Edmonton after that first season.always liked Talbot and wish they kept him.

You're not really coming at this from the angle of having a real understanding of the business side of everything, so why act like it?

clearly you’re too lazy to read a thread and hanging on one point i was educated on doesn’t encompass an entire taxonomy of knowledge. Make more effort to shore up your shortcomings is my advice.
I read the entire thread, my previous point stands fully intact. If you don't understand extremely basic tenants of the current CBA it makes it hard to put much stock into your thoughts on how the Rangers are going to or how they should manage the cap.
Please enlighten me about what you mean. You know literally nothing about me except for me (accurately) calling you out.Work on your many shortcomings. Minus the thought these contracts could be adjusted like the NFL i’ll remain confident in my knowledge and those i post among.
This is very true. And as good as he is, I don’t expect Shesty to be at prime Hank’s level. He’d have to be generational to get that good.Shestyorkin will have 2 RFA years left when his ELC ends. Lundqvist signed his latest contract at age 32, well into his UFA years.

So someone calling you out for talking out of your ass couldn't possibly mean that you're actually talking out of your ass but instead is proof of that person having "many shortcomings" ? Got it, totally rational.
Talbot was better, but with a better team in front, and in a somewhat shorter sample. He was also older and closer to needing a UFA contract (which he got--$4M+). Georgiev hasn't been as good or consistent but has played on some bad defensive teams and is younger.I think many of us liked him. His perceived trade value which fell short of expectationS i believe has tempered what we believe Georgiev will return.
Yes, go through my post history - it's definitely filled with me cherry picking and correcting posters endlessly as a hobby. Totally. It's not that this was you deservedly getting called out, but instead further evidence of my cherry picking correction campaign.Save the emotion for somebody who cares. Like i said “hanging on one point i was educated on doesn’t encompass an entire taxonomy of knowledge.” Surfing around cherry picking to correct posters is a pretty counterproductive hobby considering most everybody else contributes. Seek help if you can’t rationalize that.
back to hockey, hopefully.

If you want to go back to hockey that's fine. I've had multiple posts in this thread where I lay out my opinion on what should happen and why.
A few posts ago you imply that the 40 mil of projected cap space we have in 21-22 makes the 1.5 dead space for a Hank buyout basically irrelevant because our RFAs won't eat into that, right? But with a flat cap, don't we want as little dead space as possible and to be able to have the most roster flexibility possible. You don't want to be unable to sign or re-sign a player or unable to pull the trigger on a trade because of buyouts on the cap, especially going in to that 21-22 season, we're supposed to be contenders by then.
Also that 40mil in cap space is with only 6 skaters signed ( will be 7 with Laf, but the 6 are Kreider, Panarin, Zibanejad, Kakko, Trouba and Fox). Every single other skater and goalie needs a contract. Also future contract considerations need to be considered even in regards to that years cap. You need to be factoring in future raises for all the young talent, Kakko, Chytil, Fox and most importantly Shesty at will all get hefty raises. 40 million in cap space seems like a ton right now but it's going to disappear quickly and that's without any buyouts taking up dead space.

I think in terms of value they're fairly close, but probably give the nod to Georgiev based on youth and team control. If Talbot got essentially a low 2nd and a low 3rd, I would hope Georgiev can get a high 2nd and a 3rd. Or something like a B-level prospect and a third.

Yeah that's always what makes things so hard to predict. The goalie market is all over the place. Antti Raanta was not as established as either Talbot or Georgiev but was also young-ish, controllable, and highly-regarded but we were able to snag him for Haggerty, who was like a C-level guy that Chicago kept for a year. I guess we'll see (unless Lundvist is gone, in which case I would assume we're keeping Georgiev).good take and i agree
i can’t recall the Goalie market when Talbot was moved. This market looks a bit saturated yet the players are likely more costly than Georgiev.
Hoping to package him but what type of package and for what?
- move higher in the draft from the 2nd #1 pick for a future player?
- move for a Veteran 2nd line Center?
- move for some bottom 6 muscle?
i guess a lot depends on the market. Speaking of market, by January Tyler Wall will be 23 years of age. Will he get a look for games?
Lmao wtf are you talking about? Not taking the bait and reading any of this. Historically you do nothing more than attack and then repeat everything already posted as if it’s your original idea.
"It doesn’t free up anything in 21-22. Lundqvist isn’t signed then. It’s irrelevant. "I've pointed this out multiple times. I'm not sure why you're telling me this.

I took that to mean there was no impact in 21-22. Sorry if I misinterpreted your comment. There are so many points of view flying around here
