Injury Report: Helm out 6 weeks with a dislocated shoulder

Unlucky incident, hope he recovers quickly, but was there ever any doubt he'd end up injured at some point?

Well, I mean any player getting low bridged like that is going to get hurt. He's been "healthy" the past two seasons.

Almost a clip but numb-skull Helm tried to run right through it. Like I said keeping your head down for an extra second or two will get you annihilated in the NHL. Unfortunate, ugly, and embarrassing but dems da breaks.

This feels like the year tartar and nyquist came up. Now we have Mantha and Bertuzi part 2.

I don't like Helm being injured, dude really doesn't need to add to his injury history. Also him and AA out at the same time hurts our speed a lot.

Poor Helm can never catch a break, Last year was pretty much the only season that he was injury free. Other then that he's been missing quite a bit of time here. Feel bad for Helmer and hopefully he's not out to long though it doesn't sound good right now.

Sorry to be nitpicky, but dislocated and separated are similar but different things, right?

Not similar at all. Thread title needs to be updated.

Dislocated shoulder - In this injury, a fall or blow causes the top of your arm bone to pop out of the shoulder socket. Unlike a lot of joints in your body -- your elbow, for instance -- the shoulder is incredibly mobile. You can twist and move your upper arm in almost any direction. But there's a price for this ease of movement. The shoulder joint is inherently unstable, prone to slipping out of place.

Separated shoulder - Despite the name, this injury doesn't directly affect the shoulder joint. Instead, a fall or blow tears one of the ligaments that connects the collarbone to the shoulder blade. Since it's no longer anchored, the collarbone may move out of position and push against the skin near the top of your shoulder. Although separated shoulders can cause deformity, people usually recover fully with time.

is this really going to have a negative effect on the team

be honest

i dont wish a player gets hurt but for a player who has done absolutely nothing so far this year, so long as he still gets paid(and therefore no neg to the player himself) who really cares so long as it gives a guy like mantha a longer opportunity or a player like AA more important minutes

Only players who now will get more Ice-Time are Sheahan and Glendening.

That makes us worse.

I don't see sheham or glendening with more times. We should get bettuzi up. On the same note helm is hurt stammer is hurt. Time for price to go down.

If he is actually considered one of "our best forwards" that is in and of itself a sad indictment of the roster.

4th best point scorer
4th most hits (behind Ott, Abby and Glendenning)
1st plus/minus
Tied 2nd in goals
One of the better faceoff guys with 56%

People are so consumed with hate because of his contract, but lets not act like Helm hasn't been an important key player on the team. Helm has stepped up his game and can't/won't/refuse to accept he stepped up his game.

If Tatar had half the heart as Darren Helm, the Wings would be a much better team. But he doesn't. Mantha has been unimpressive other than a nice pass to Z, but otherwise flat. Nyquist is streaky and often looks disconnected. Zetterberg is out of his prime. Larkin looks human 'off'. Helm has been one of DRWs most consistent and better forwards. Even when he's not potting goals, he's out there playing 100% each and every shift. Too bad other players don't take notice and up their compete level.... (looking at you Mantha and Dylan Larkin and Tatar)

Nothing you said argues against it being an indictment on the crap roster.
