anyone do this and listen to music during like shoot arounds or drop ins? i saw some guy do it and he didnt have a lot of problems... i figured wireless or sport earbuds and an arm patch ipod holder would work best, any ways to best do this?

The arm patch method seems like the most natural way to do it. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work during a shoot around, but I wouldn't do it during a drop-in. You want to hear that "heads up" when your head is turned...

no offense to the OP, but this sounds like a terrible idea. I think you use your ears more than you realize.

If you really have to do it, maybe try it during a shootaround where there is like 5 people on the ice and see what it's like.

This is a bad idea.. unless there is nobody at your stick and pucks sessions.

I think some of u are thinking a different idea then i am Lol.... I'm not going to blast it, but background low volume music would be nice.. and idk what drop ins u guys play but mine are laid back no contact

It still doesn't seem like a good idea.

I'd want all of my senses (including hearing) operating at full capacity.

Only people I know who do this are effing terrible beginner players who think they're hot ****.

As for doing it at a stick and puck, just imagine when you take a shot and go to get your puck and you can't hear the ******* taking a slapper at your back/head. At least with your ears open you can hear it and brace or duck.

i put my headphones on at a low/medium volume at the gym and can hear my surroundings fine, and hockey is louder then that so i think ill be ok

At drop ins, I'm more worried about accidental contact than anything. I want to hear any skates behind me, especially when skating backward.

When I used Reebok goalie pants, there was actually a pocket for an MP3 player or iPod so I kept my iPod on my hip and used around the ear/sport style earbuds. I just ran the cable under my chest protector and the earbuds worked in a way that it did not interfere under my mask.

I took shots in warm ups with no issues. Although I'd never do it in a game or a sticktime where there's a lot of people.

some guy did this at a sticktime once and he kept bumping into everyone. eventually he took them off after he was practicing backwards skating and completely decked this guy who was skating towards him.

it probably didn't help that his helmets still had the ear guards on too, so there's no way he could hear anything out there with the ear guards and headphones in

I did this a lot at stick-n-pucks during the day when the rink was not busy. I just had a little ipod shuffle that clipped on near my neckline. I was thinking of sewing a little pocket for my phone into my pants, but I never did, and now I work during the day anyway, so no more hanging out at the rink on weekdays.

No Way. I hate it when people drive with there ear phones on to while we are on the subject.

how do you do it?

We don't wear helmets. Just put my iPod nano jacket pocket. Headphones on under the toque. Makes me dangle better haha but like I said there's usually only a couple of us on the whole ice. I wouldn't do it if there were other people there. Just fun to do once in a while. My little city has like 20 out door rinks so it's not hard to find an empty one.

I saw a Reebok goalie pant with a build in I-Pod holder:D

I never did it but I think it would be alright, If you just put one speaker in.

Or you can just have the music blasting through the rinks soundsystem, this is what I used to do when I worked at my lokal rink:yo:
