An inspiration to many young people boys and girls across as Canada and even across the World, a true leader, a class act, a ground breaking career, the Greatest Women's Hockey player of all time. Also 1 of 9 Canadians to participate in both the Summer and Winter games.

Thought this deserves a thread of acknowledgement. As fun as it was being in Sochi to watch our men's team deliver the greatest performance in Hockey history, The greatest moment of euphoria I might ever have at a Hockey game was to witness the finish and Women's comeback vs the Americans, and to see her take the team on her back at her age and deliver a 4th straight Gold was spellbinding.

Thank you Hayley Wickenheiser.

I suppose she's a Hall of Famer as well. When will that happen?

I was thinking about doing this but didn't know where to put it so thank you for starting this thread. I 100% agree with you that she's the Greatest Women's Hockey Player of All-Time. It's weird seeing that some of the WHKY writers that Poulin or Knight are at her level or even better but that's a debate for later.

As for the Hockey Hall of Famer thing Hayley's last game was in 2016 so she'll be eligible in 2020 unless I'm reading the eligibility rules wrong. She should be a 1st ballot HHoFer or whoever is on the committee should be fired on the spot. It's going to be weird in 2018 because that will be the first Olympics that the Canadian Women's Team won't have Hayley Wickenheiser.

There's a quite a few great Hayley Wickenheiser moments for me. My favourite one will always be 2002 in Salt Lake City. As a young kid seeing that passion, fighting through the adversity and then Wickenheiser scoring off the bench was just fantastic. I was hooked and Wickenheiser made me a fan of hers.

She's absolutely a Hall of Fame'er. They don't seem to have a separate section for female players, so I assume the criteria is the same as for any player, she must be retired for three years unless they deem her special enough to wave the waiting period.

Given the male players who have been waived from the three year waiting period, it's probably not hard to argue that she definitely fits the bill for female players, so maybe she gets in earlier.

She didn't play this season anymore, right? That should make her HHOF eligible in 2019.

Great career for Wickenheiser, she will easily make the hall of fame in her first year of eligibility.

She's the female equivalent of Wayne Gretzky in terms of changing the female game and dominance.

Waiting period deserves to be waived and she should go in right away.

Great player and great Canadian patriot, best female player of all time, the Gordie Howe of womens hockey to me.

Instant Hall of famer of course.
