Have we seen the last of these guys?

I'm a believer this season is going to be canceled.

That means that: Lupul, Bozak, Connolly, Lombardi, MacArthur and Steckel
will be UFA's in 2013-2014 and will need to be signed or will walk.

Of that list Lupul would be missed the most. MacArthur has value, I think Burke should
have traded him when he had a chance. Everyone else I think is Marlies replaceable.
Kadri will never be a Leaf until some of these guys are gone.

Can't afford to lose J Lupes. Kessel benefited greatly from him, and vice versa obviously as well. Bozak I don't mind for the 3 c slot. Good riddance to the rest...

I think Lupul and Bozak will be re-signed.

If the Bozak+Kadri for Luongo trade goes through, I think Connolly and MacArthur may get another look. Steckel might aswell.

Lombardi is the most likely to not return, imo.
 
Without a doubt among those players Lupul needs to be re-signed and they should at least see what could happen with Bozak. The others don't need to be re-signed, although I would miss MacArthur because the goals he has scored was a surprise.
 
It's more likely the season doesnt get canceled. They're quite close and are now on their second day of meetings with zero leaks.

Both parties are interested in saving the season, neither party thinks it's worth it to extend this lockout to a full season. The differences on a grand scale are miniscule.

I would go a step further and say we'll have a deal by the weekend, and we'll be seeing these players on the ice in about 2 weeks.
 
Lupul needs to be re-signed.

If we can't get our #1C Bozak should be re-signed because our top line did pretty great with him, he should be alright in a bottom 6 role too.

Mac if he can should be re-signed, the rest I hope aren't back next season.
 
Connolly and Lombardi should be gone one way or the other. I like to see what the Leafs could get for MacArthur. But Lupul, Bozak and, to a lesser degree, Steckel have utility.
 
I think I am in the minority but I would like to see Steckel resigned I really like him on our bottom line brings a lot to the PK also.

Lupul- He'll likely be back, I can't see Burke not re-inking him. He's still in his prime, he has unreal chemistry with Kessel and he's a fringe 1st liner (on this team a 1st liner)

Connolly- Doubt it. The guy just doesn't jive with this team, he's too small/not physical/lacks defense to play a shut down role and Grabo already has the #2C locked up for the forseeable future.

Lombardi- Gone like the wind. The guy has no role on this team, he can't score he can't hit, he can't make plays , only thing he's good at is skating.

Mac- I think he'll be back.

Steckel- Most likely Burke will reink him to a short term deal. Carlye loved playing Steckel in the shutdown role and it seemed to work, besides Steckel is big/excels at faceoffs and is above average in his own end, these are qualites you look for in a checking line centre.
 
I think Lupul will be a priority for Burke. If Lupul wants to stay in Toronto, I think Toronto has got a contract for him.
 
I'd give Lupul, Bozak and Steckel Contracts.

Lupul 3-4 years at 5 mil
bozak 2-2.5 mil 3 years
steckel one or two years.

Steckel is fine for now at the #4 C, great on faceoffs, replace him in a year or two with a marlie.
 
I'd like if we kept Bozak. Our center depth sucks and he's a good utility guy who you can play just about anywhere in the lineup, wins faceoffs, good PKer, etc.
 
The only one I'd want and would expect back baring a trade is Bozak


Lupul is a tricky one. Based on last year he could(I stress could) demand as high as 6mil per. Now for me(and probably most) that's way too much. If that was the case then move him before the deadline.

Also now we're at the disadvantage of only seeing him for 48 games or so this year when we get going. So yea, It's a tricky one.



As for the others.

Mac - Move at deadline

Lombardi - Move if possible

Connolly - Keep, let contract run out

Steckel - Move, Specifically to Anaheim(it's the only team we trade with;), Plus Boudreau loves him)

So much up in the air right now... Does this CBA get signed? Do we trade for Luongo? Who goes the other way? Do we buy someone out? Who? Can Lupul back up his play in a 48 game season?

If this CBA gets signed as it most recently stood, we are looking at a $60 mil. cap for 13/14'....

Tend to agree...especially if its his career year that he is going to base his demands on....Really in that list of players...Lupul is the only one Id be concerned about leaving. Leafs simply dont have the depth to replace him. The rest are replaceable plugs.
