We all know that Toronto’s biggest flaw in the past decade was their defence and goaltending. Leafs have gotten tremendously thicker and meaner on the D, with acquisitions such as the big boy McCabe and perfect with his stick Tanev. However, goaltending has still been an issue. It started with Andersson, but of course, as we know, he was sent packing after fans got sick of him from losing against the Bruins. Since then, there’s been a slew of new goaltending every season. With Stolarz playing well, I’d assume, have Leafs fans sighing of relief, hoping that he can relieve the much needed goaltending to propel the Leafs to new heights.

With The Leafs getting remarkable goaltending from Stolarz, are the Leafs poised to make the jump they’ve so desperately tried for the past decade? Does Stolarz have enough experience to guide them through? His stats suggest so.

Obviously! We've never strung together 5 good games during the Keefe era and never had any quality goaltending. /s

As all Leaf fans will say and other fanbases will agree, we'll find out in the playoffs. To be clear, we've had a very good defensive record and goaltending the last few years in the playoffs and offense (the powerplay in particular) has been what has let us down.

Just like annual speculation about bubble playoff teams finally making a push...it doesnt matter what you think they are until they do it.

Yeah, but Campbell never really was elite. All other goalies Toronto has had have been downright terrible. Stolarz has an incredible statline, just never has been given the chance. Now, he’s been given the chance.

I think the biggest challenge is figuring out a way to make peace with Parros. Something is obviously not right and it would go a hell of a long way, with the way Berube likes the team to play, if they can convince him they are just the same as the other 31 NHL teams.

Campbell? I mean, he had 3 straight years of quality play but I said the last few years and he hasn't played for the Leafs since 21-22.

Woll gave us great goaltending in the playoffs the last 2 years.

This is a Brian Savage thread. Mr. October is fine when it's baseball. You want that nickname. In hockey? Not so much. Come back in April, or better yet June.

Stolarz ain't playing you all these games if you wanna go deep into June. Woll will have to play. Other people will have to show up big. Don't pin it on the bargain bin goaltending all the time.
