Has the loss of Ekblad decided the tournament?

lol...for one thing they could still qualify, for another thing it sounds like you haven't watched any of the games. They are a better team than Russia.

No but Canada is so ridiculously stacked that they need to be at a disadvantage to be beaten.

No Keith, No Benn, No Seguin, No Subban etc and still annihilating teams.

But the Panthers were hot garbage on defense without Ekblad. Team NA needs to have Ekblad to be competitive and win games due to their holes on defense.

Ummm, they beat Sweden with no Ekblad on the roster.

They didn't exactly shutout Finland, either.
 
Dont see the difference Ekblad would have made. The D did fine without him. Team NA needed to finish on the many glorious scoring chances they had. Instead, they let Sweden back in the game. Unless Ekblad would have taken out Lundqvist?
 
Matthew Murray makes some everyday saves against the Russians, and NAT is undefeated.

Tie-breakers being decided by H2H instead of goal differential was the difference.

They may have been better than Russia but still far far away from dominant that you claimed.

Ekblad has missed grand total of 5 NHL games in his 2 year NHL career

Such a silly statement.

You could spin that either way you want. NA sucking for 10 minutes against Russia sealed theirfate.

Sweden sucking for the first 5 minutes of the game almost decided the outcome of the group.

Sweden losing Zetterberg, Steen, Kronwall, Rakell and Backlund within 10 days almost sealed their fate.

McDavid shooting air a couple of times sealed NA fate.

And I could go on. In the end, all these things happen in hockey for every single team.

Murray was bad, so was McLellan. Most overrated coach in the league.. he's the one that started Murray in back to back games and also kept the teams leading scorer on the bench during a 5 on 3 lol. He was obviously playing favorites and to him, it was all about giving Mcdavid his time to shine and not the team.

Sweden lost 5 players to injuries so sweden will have nice excuse if we lose tournament

Russia is not beating Canada, but they are not going to lose to Finland who has nothing to play for.

It's a shame that there were no NA vs Canada games in the preseason. Crosby and McDavid still haven't played each other and most likely won't.

Ekblad is the most important player on Team NA. Just as Team Canada's success goes through their blue line. But not as dependent on 1 player.

With Ekblad NA would have won every single game and advanced to the final where they would have also won 2 straight games over Canada.

But that's life ...
