My bad. I remembered it was by another poster. It's spot on imo.

Didn't Terrell Owens dominate a Super Bowl on a broken leg? Being hurt is an incredibly weak excuse, and it would not be accepted by Leafs fans if the player in question was McDavid.
13 years, gonna be 14, and we went through 2 rebuilds. you are continuing yours from 5 years ago, we are progressing from ours 3 years ago.Speaking of failure.
15 years and counting......(series victory drought)
"I'm assuming that (Matthews) thought he was going to come tonight and dominate the game. That's what I thought,"
"A decent showing last playoffs" ...
Wait, you just said "every player is great at answering questions from the media", and referenced Matthews' "s##t happens" in the same post. Who trained him to give that response?lol, every player is great at answering questions from the media. every player is trained on it when they come into the season. auston is great at handling the media, his answers are the typical ones you state above. it's a tough situation, gotta think the team kept him out after the headlines Simmons created when he got Matthews to quote "**** happens" lol. not too worried about the whoe media thing. what's more worrying is that line's play against chara and mcavoy. seems like they look defeated. chalk it up to experience gained i guess.
Go back and view all his media scrums. He is great at them. He had a bad game and was frustrated and gave a brutal, but honest remark. It's one comment. He isn't suddenly horrible at media scrums. Holy overreactions.Wait, you just said "every player is great at answering questions from the media", and referenced Matthews' "s##t happens" in the same post. Who trained him to give that response?
Based on your analysis, the ones that are overreacting are the Leafs, if they barred him from addressing the media after the game last night.Go back and view all his media scrums. Really?
So every player should be able to play through anything, and it's never an excuse. So no matter the injury they should be 100% effective, no questions asked?
I didn't say I loved what has happened, or I didn't believe he should play through it better, but the reality is all players play through pain differently. I have played through injuries before, and with a lot of medical help to do it, didn't feel a thing. However, every situation, league, and player is different. It still does not take away from the reality of it.
I would have loved to see a Forsburg type tolerance, but who knows how much pain he can handle.
But hey, this is HFboards, and he will be crapped on, I get it. If I don't like what will be said, I am also free to leave, I understand.
lol, hey you could be right. he might. but we are not privy to that and you can't make assumptions on someone's character based off of a bad quote in a post-game presser. he'll be fine, so will everyone else. it's always tough when you lose. haters come out, the media comes out. everything is doom and gloom.Dude just doesn't have the emotional maturity and mental toughness to take the really tough post game interviews. It's obvious he was too hurt to take an interview, why would he want to be on national TV with tears in his eyes. I see why he avoided the interview.

Gotta revamp for another first round playoff exit. This is on Kadri more than Matthews. He made the kid's job that much harder. Leafs will be back next year and much better if they find themselves another good defenseman. And theyre not technically dead yet so there's that
What is unrealistic, is to always expect a linear progression. Sometimes things just don't go the way one hopes. Matthews had a good performance in the 16-17 playoffs, maybe in 17-18 it's not meant to be and who knows in the future.
Kessel looked like he was about to cry being a Leaf. Phaneuf didn't have a great time either. What's the Oilers got to do with Matthews playoff thread?
Laine is dominating in his first playoffs too....is he truly better?
