I would echo someone else’s sentiments about Brodzinski from another thread. Sign him to a 3 year deal for the max you can bury to the AHL right now. The guys has been a revelation for Hartford and he is an exemplary leader. He’s also not a bad option as a depth NHL forward should the need arise. The guy hasn’t poured for one second and he’s a big reason the team has turned around. Reward him.

It’s a shame he is not a full time NHL player. He is not that good at the NHL, despite his hustle speed and skill at the AHL level.. Just give one year contract every year. I doubt teams would line up for him if he was UFA. No reason to sign a minor leaguer long term. 3 years is too long for 14th or 15th forward depth. Wait until Berard. Othmann, Sykora, Rempe and Edstrom pass him by on the depth chart.

From what I recall ,Brodzinski has young children.
Having lived and worked up in that area (though temporarily) and having family that still lives in the suburbs of Hartford a very big sell for players with families that have school age or younger kids is the school systems. I can’t imagine many places in the U.S. or Canada that can match it.
So I’m with you I wouldn’t over commit. Keep Brodzinski with a stong reason to produce. Though I would go two years at a clip just to be civil.

I would definitely give two years to Brodzinski if he wants to stay. He's the new Ken Gernander. I know he's 30 but I have no doubt he has another five effective AHL seasons in him. He's a real leader on top of being an excellent player and you know motivation will never be an issue with him. They want to build a winning culture in Hartford and they seem to be on the right track. A guy like Brodz is a big reason why. The anecdote above about Blidh and Othmann, that's why they signed Blidh for two years. Not for his play but because he's willing to stick around after practice and be the dad to the kid and help him work on his game. He knows his role.

If you find guys like that that, veterans that will bring it every night and work with the young guys, you really have to keep them. Hartford's Dark Ages were marred by lots of veteran players that signed and half-assed it and put in disappointing efforts. I hope that's over. Brodz, Blidh, Riley Nash, those guys build the culture.

Pack down 0-1 after 1

Garand in net, Gabriele in for Cairns seem only lineup changes
Lesch, Hillman (Harpur) hurt

Maybe Elson too? Or just another scratch for him ( w Harpur out I believe they have no vet game roster concerns)

Was Matt Robertson traded mid shift?
Robertson was stationary behind his net with the puck and was deciding what to do while juggling the puck and then he tapped the puck to hard which caused it to roll forward right to the only Belleville player in the zone who tapped it right past Garand.
Othmann with a Laser to put Hartford on the board.
Hartford down 2-2 with under 16 to goin the second.

Sykora tied it at 2. 4 points in his last 6 games, 5 in his last 9. Only 2 points (both in the same game) in his previous 9 games.
I only mean this as a compliment, but if Sykora never makes it to the NHL he can always get there by being a mascot. Happiest hockey player I’ve ever watched.
If Henriksson could just finish on all the chances he creates, he would be playing in the NHL now.

They give Garand(and themselves) new life, after falling behind 0-2, in 1st minute of 2nd, on 8 total shots against

Lets see if they can secure another bounce back W

Watch him be better than that debbie downer Kakko

Yeah, Henriksson always seems to be buzzing around. Maybe he can make it as a 4th liner. Still only 22, so he has time.

Good win. Nash with the GW in O/T. Final 4-3.
Disappointed in Trivigno’s play. Was floating on a couple of shifts up by the blue line in his d-zone while his line mates where battling down low.
Next game is Friday.

1-0 Belleville after 1. Garand gave up a soft goal on his glove side. Bad positioning by Dylan.
Pack came out of the gate well then the game slowed down for both teams.
Rempe had a fight with Bokondii Imama.

Agree that Dylan might want that one back but I thought that Robertson gave Crookshank too much room.
