86 has a good chance at #1 in my eyes. 163 assists in a season is probably the most untouchable record in league history

Can’t beat averaging more than 2 assists per game and breaking your own points record again with 215. What’s really amazing is that he piled up 132 of those assists (2.28 APG) and 167 points over his final 58 games (2.88 PPG). Had 5 games without an assist in his opening 22 games and then went just 3 games without one in the remaining 58. Just on a completely different level.

Demolished second year Mario by 74 points. Interestingly, Gretzky did not win the Pearson this year. I assume it’s because he won the previous four and Mario showed signs that he would soon to be competing. Funny enough, Lemieux over Gretzky supporters always seem to forget about this one when it comes to who should have received hardware over another.
