Hank's New Mask

Lundqvist salutes Swedish legends

We have the great pleasure to present the new mask artwork for Mr. Vezina himself, the New York Rangers keeper Henrik Lundqvist!

This new mask is something completely new… This mask is the start of a series of tributes to legends from his home country of Sweden.

Henrik and I talked a lot during the fall about ideas for his coming masks, and this mask series crystallized. I started to do sketches at once... :-)

Every mask will have a theme, starting with this first salute mask from Lundqvist; Legends from the Silverscreen.

On one side of the mask you find the Swedish movie legends Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman painted in a soft classic style, and on the other side you find the legendary Swedish director Ingmar Bergman in a movie poster inspired layout, inspired from his iconic movie The Seventh Seal.

Everything is mixed into a classic Lundqvist layout, and of course you will find all the other stuff from Henrik's mask series, such as the Statue of Liberty in bling bling, and a lot of 3-D effects and other cool Special FX. And of course the lightning all over the mask, just as on all his mask all the way from his Frölunda masks.

I am so proud to be your painter Henrik!

I agree, I am not really crazy about the concept...I would like it better if he paid homage to past NYR legends or kept it relevant to the Rangers in some way.
 
Its better than the one he wore at his bachelor's party. I won't go much further than that.

Yup.

The mask should have had an eagle having a piece of the constitution in his claws, sitting on top of a pole which holds the american flag, while enjoying a bottle of Coca-Cola and staring in to the eyes of John Wayne who is sipping Jack Daniels and eating a cheeseburger on one side. And then on the other side it should've had all the past Rangers legends, their numbers and statistics.

Or then, you know, something that is really close to his heart, like, his own culture and things he loves and grew up with or something.

An Ingmar Bergman themed mask?

Its certainly unusual, I'll give him that. I guess its one way to reference him being a swede.

This will be my first tattoo when I never get it, thanks man! :laugh:
