It's also not super surprising after what Dubas said at his exit press conference. He was extremely non-committal to Sullivan and it seemed pretty evident that he would like a change if the opportunity arose. He wants to bring in his own guy that will actually play youth like a rebuild is supposed to be doing.
The thing that kinda stinks here is that I almost guarantee Sullivan is going to the Rangers, which I think locks in them giving up their 2026 1st to the Penguins and also likely makes them bounce back to a playoff team. Throw shit at Sullivan all you want, but he'll get a short term bounce out of the Rangers for sure.
