Half Season Ticket Holder Changes

But if you are a half-season ticket owner are you not sharing tickets with the people who have the other half of the games? So how do both half's get to go to all playoff games? Seems to make sense to split the playoff games as well...

Not really the way it works. Usually the other games are sold as singles for full price. This would be true for pkayoff games as well. It is really a way to get full price for at least one home game

As I understand it, full season and half season packages are being sold at all time highs. I wouldn't be surprised if they started overlapping the half season packages as has been discussed above.

Basically what they're doing now is making the half-season seat a full-season and splitting them. So they receive double the revenue and the seat is always sold. From a money perspective, I get it. From a die-hard perspective, it feels like we're getting screwed.
It shouldn't shock anybody they don't give a crap about "diehard fans" as long as there is a butt in the seat. Last season they raised some tickets up where I sit upwards of 50% and then this year they have the brass to say "we have had a modest price increase" . Ive been a season ticket holder for over 13 years now and my tickets have gone up almost every year.
You guys rather have a low budget team that sucks, thereby guaranteeing unlimited seats for those who want it?
I think its rational behavior to split the season tickets in two if the demand justifies it. Given the winning ways of the Kings, this is expected.
It's called supply-demand. Serving the greater good - the most access for the most fans - is always a good thing.
Kings fans have been lucky since Uncle Phil's actual cash spend on player salaries has been above the salary cap. Guys like Richards and Carter, who count $5mm against the cap, are making ~$8MM in actual salary. You guys rather be St. Louis - who can't afford a trade to get over the top because of internal salary cap? Or the flip-side Toronto, where only corporations can afford tickets?
Kings have a pretty good balance of ticket access and the ability to ice a strong team without concerns about salary. Middle of the pack in ticket prices while having a Stanley Cup contending roster. Sounds like a decent deal to me.

I always wondered why people bought a half season anyways. I guess it can be a pain to partner with somebody but if I'm not mistaken, the price break is better for a full season so it seems like splitting a full season is a better move than a half season. A few years back when I had diehards, I was paying less for a full season in the 4th row of 314 then the guy sitting next to me paying for a half season. It was like being on an airplane. I guess I was grandfathered in at that rate but the person had the option to switch to full season after the lockout and actually save money for MORE tickets.
More to the point, the better the Kings are, the harder tickets are going to be to get and the more they are going to go up. I'd much rather attend 3-4 games a year and pay through the nose to watch a good team where I can see the money I'm spending on the ice then watch a 29th place finish for $12 seats. I'm sure there is a happy medium there but you can always vote with your wallet. No big business shows anyone but the highest bidder loyalty. It is what it is.

I have half season seats simply because there is no way I can make every game , I live in riverside and work in Palm Springs, I had to leave work at 1 to make the playoff games and 3 ish to make weekday games, do not like attempting to sell tickets for multiple reasons but do agree that I am ok with missing some games with a stanley cup team then seeing them all with the 2nd choice in the draft team again as long as they do not go Lakers and sell away the tv games
I can tell you as a full season ticket holder it has been ridiculous going to all the games. I find myself tired just getting up to L.A. and if I feel this way as a fan I can only imagine how hard it must be on the players. I am really resenting both the league and the players for what happened this season and hope to ****ing never, ever see it happen again.
I was actually relieved to see them going on the road. How insane is that? Its supposed to be entertainment for me, not a burden.

Last season it was the 10 game packs, this season it's the half game packs (we gave up our 10 game pack last season -- low inventory, playoff guarantee reduced to a game per round -- but not before we saw D. Brown hoist the franchise's FIRST EVER Stanley Cup).
It absolutely does suck for the folks who have purchased such plans year after year, but it is the correct decision for the club to make in response to a stronger market for seats.

While one can complain about what they are doing, I can say that I'm still paying only $12 a game for 4 seats in the 7th row of 306 with my increase next season only being like 50 cents. Also, first round playoff tickets this year are frozen at regular season prices.
While some might complain about loyalty, they are certainly rewarding my 12 years of loyalty.
Honestly, I can't feel bad at all for anybody who picked up seats in the last three years...playoffs each season and the Stanley Cup. Give me a break. Unless you've been paying AEG for years during the horror show that was the '00s, your complaints are just asking for the world's smallest violin gesture.
If you don't want to pay it, someone else will. Want to have a good hockey team? Be prepared for ticket demand to go up and for the team to act accordingly with increases. I have a buddy who is all in on hockey now and wants to buy the open seat next to my 4... he will have to pay full price at ~$1700 while I'm paying a little over $1,000 for two seats: He's still happy as a clam about it.
With tickets in my section going for $75 a piece after ticketmaster charges to some games, there is always the option of selling some of your seats as well. Also, if you got to see the Cup last season via a half-season plan, well, just be happy you got to see history.
