I honestly wouldn't be that surprised. Halak is a 1A that would work well with Andersen whom I personally feel is a 1B right now.

It's a lot of money to have tied up to your netminders, but Toronto's kids don't need to be re-signed until Halak's deal has expired and Andersen just clearly isn't ready. Halak bridges that gap.

But it's Eklund, so it's total balogna.

Actually Leafs do have cap issues as likely Nylander/Matthews/Marner will hit several bonus marks which you don't get LTIR protection from.

This would make zero sense.

What does make sense is Rumour * (Star player + Leafs) = $$$$ E7

It's completely ridiculous. Not because it's Eklund but because it makes no sense whatsoever.

How ridiculous is this?

Off the charts, ridiculous. Toronto just gave a guy $25million/5 years, traded Bernier because they didn't want another goalie controversy, and have had Babcock constantly defend him to the media.

I'd expect Eklund to at least know a team's situation before making up a rumor about them. It the least he could do, as it's his ******* job.

Has this guy ever been right about anything. It seems he just post whatever trade he did in GM mode NHL 16. I don't see how it would pressure Anderssen less to have a goalie to compete with who's not signed to the same long term deal he is.

This is the only place that name comes up. He owes this site(or his followers here, doubt he survives without them) bigtime.
Toronto doesn't need another goalie for right now, maybe in their pipeline but not on the NHL team.

Well, it does make more sense than Howard to Boston. That's about it and of course Toronto clicks.

Halak for Laich + Sparks maybe.

But then we lose Griffith or Smith or Corrado or Enroth to waivers.

Next year Sparks is waiver eligible, so we would also have 3 goalies next year without moving Sparks (or Andersen or Halak) in this deal or within the year.

TL;DR - Only if Sparks and a cap dump (Michalek/Laich/Greening) are involved, and if Lamiorello is okay with losing a depth guy to waivers just to have 3 goalies.

Basically this is highly unlikely but not impossible BS. Not suprising at all considering the source.

Ben Smith is VERY replaceable

I'd want Matthews, but would most likely settle for Marner or Nylander.
Man...

Hal Gill and Josh Gorges made him look better all series against OV and the Caps than he actually is, okay? You're overrating this guy. Now, if you wanna talk about Gorges for Matthews or Nylander, you might be taken seriously.
