Would need a better prospect then Smilanic. Someone like Mailloux, Roy, Kidney, Farrell at least to get the Wild involved.
I think a guy like Ylonen would be good for them. Probably not known a lot, but he's a guy that's very close to a middle 6 role in the NHL, good shot, good wheels and good IQ.

How are the Habs coming out of this with the 2nd overall pick? Seems wildly homer-ish in favor of them. The other teams are getting hosed.

No need for teams to trade a dollar for four quarters, until that dollar requests to be traded.

Don't understand this obsession with Habs fans trying to get the #2 pick by inserting themselves into NJD proposals with other teams for no reason.

Don't see any of these guysadded to a deal where Habs are already sending a 21YO top4Dman who hits like a truck.

MAYBBEEEEE Farrell, but all of the others are out of bounds.... Roy would've been drafted top3 this year he he was a couple weeks younger

The value is not equal at any side:

2nd Overall > Fiala > 27+Romanov+Ylonan/Smilanic

I'm not saying that Habs package is garbage or anything, but quantity<quality. Offer some big pieces instead of a bunch of lesser ones. 2nd overall picks are very highly valued, hence why they are never traded.

Why can’t people understand that if you want 2OA it has to hurt, not just shove a bunch of pieces you’re okay losing into a package and calling it value

Then no 2nd overall lol
And it's totally fine for us. Romanov has shown to be a top4 D-man this year at the age of 21/22... Adding any of the guys you mentinned for a shot at Slaf isn't of any interest for the Habs.

Draft Wright, let him dominate the OHL next year, finish dead last again, draft Bedard / Michkov and then start looking for thos type of deals. Mailloux was a beast in the OHL this year before his injury, Roy has been nothing short of dominant, same goes for Kidney, I mean, Habs are in no pisition to trade their best prospects for a shot at a MAYBE slighltly better prospect, ESPECIALLY if they have to send a 22YO top4 Dman in the process

You say “it’s totally fine with us” but it’s your fan base that keeps proposing these trades. If it’s fine with “us” then let the rest of the fan base know.

Rebuilding is one thing but assuming you’re going to land one of the top two picks in next years draft is a mistake. Look at the bad lottery luck Arizona and Detroit have.
