Guhle Would be A Better Captain than Suzuki Read before

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I don't want to said Suzuki is a bad capitain, he is A VERY GOOD CAPTAIN.

But, my first and always choice was been Kaiden Guhle.

I want your opinion if you think, Guhle would be a better capitain.

5,5 million per year for 6 years for that guy, it's a huge time steal man!!

interesting criterion.

Based on contract, how about Hutson or Evans.

Guhle sure has that Weber like leader aura. He's gonna get a letter one day for sure.

Suzuki is more of a Koivu type of leader. A relatively quiet guy who lead by exemple on the ice. He has most of the offensive burden on his shoulders and he's done a remarkable job at it so far despite the team struggles. He also has the patience and the calm personality to handle the Montreal market , media and pressure. You need those qualities to be a captain in Montreal. Hot heads with attitude issues usually don't last long.

Ultimately hockey is a team sport though. Team unity and cohesion as a whole is more important than whoever hold the C and the two A imho. Having a trios of good letters leaders is just one part of the equation.

Hot take is hot.

Guhle will get a letter some day, deservedly, and he’d make a good captain but this is Suzuki’s team and he leads with class, dignity, passion and by example on the ice.

He’s probably one of the best young captains in the NHL you could ask for, full stop.

This could be a stupid question but how can one vote?

Im on mobile, I see no way of voting, no active button to press.

I think the right choice was made. Guhle will have a letter at some point but the fact that hes missed so much time in his career probably factored into the decision.

I think the right choice was made because Suzuki was named captain before Kaiden Guhle played his first NHL game.

If they stripped all the letters and redistributed them...
I'll give you one guess who would be named Captain.

All I know is :
1. Personality wise Suzuki in Montreal screams captain. Guy is " calm waters" dealing with everything including the press.
2. Never, ever hear of locker room stuff and his being picked seems good with everyone.
3. Chemistry of the team seems off the charts.
4. The young core is tight and Suzuki is in the middle of that.

No he isn't going to be out there screaming at a ref, which some might say is needed occasionally, as he is in the Jean Beliveau tradition of class.

Love the guy. Guhle is tremendous but I'm good with Suzuki. Yeah an A on Guhle is fitting.

None of us are in the dressing room and I don’t think anyone here can offer real insight.

What we do know is that Suzuki has been here the longest. He is a versatile player and has helped many of these guys in their development. I think he’s a very safe pick for captain.

Practically, it just wouldn't have worked. At the time that the C was available, guhle was still a newcomer into the league with little experience.

Suzuki was the logical choice.

Getting the C is as much about timing as anything. Just look at Patrice Bergeron.

It was Suzuki or Gallagher, there was no other options. Gallagher was hurt about it for sure.

It is moot point,
Yes Guhle would make a great Shea Weber type captain but Suzuki is still young, long term contract and not going anywhere, he will probably remain captain for most of his career. He is still solid overall.

Quiet guys who give 100% every game and lead by example make the best Captains, no need for being emotional just straight business.

I agree. In general it depends what the situation is. Sometimes you need fired up, sometimes a calming presence. Sometimes take players under wings, etc.

Leaders come in different stripes and at different times

The Captain i want the calming presence. The guy who exudes “everything will be alright”
