David Jiricek
  • Relatively imminent transaction; could be processed tonight
  • Says it’s not the Canucks
  • A sense that the deal is mostly complete
  • Has a process of checking on teams when a deal is almost done and crossing them off the list
  • Sometimes you get tips from the weirdest places
  • Thinks the Canucks were one of the teams that had some interest
  • Looking for someone in a similar situation
  • Spoke to ⅓ of the league in the last hour and a number of interested teams didn’t get a call back or were politely rebuffed
  • Still going through the evaluation process; 5 to 6 credible offers on the table
  • Trade may not happen tonight but should happen in the next 24-48 hours
Trade Market
  • A lot of teams have now been able to process what they do & don’t have
  • Rangers willing to shake things up with their success is a fascinating development
  • Other teams have to take a long look in the mirror
  • Difficult to execute a hockey trade right now
  • Wonders if GMs are afraid to make a mistake
  • Easy for GMs to figure out who likes who but a lot harder for them to actually make offers to each other
Canucks
  • Don’t have interest in removing pieces from their roster
  • Rather trade futures
  • Canucks are “armed with conviction” when making a trade
Chris Kreider
  • Believes his contract could be a potential bargain
  • Wonders if there’s an overlap between Kreider and JT Miller
Jacob Trouba
  • Would be a market for him based on his experience and physicality
  • One of a handful of guys in the NHL that other players have to be aware of when he’s on the ice
  • Half the league would be interested in acquiring someone like him
Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Were one of the teams that were in the mix for Jiricek
  • Chatter around the league is that Dubas thinks he can pull off a “quick retool”
  • Thinks he can make this team a playoff team and give Crosby a chance to compete
Canucks Trade Targets
  • Pretty focused on getting their own healthy players back
  • Evaluating the defence market
  • Looking at more efficient puck-movers
  • Open to a lot of different things

Seravelli saying not the Canucks and then backtracking to say 5-6 teams in the mix has doubled my existing hope that we land Jiricek. Dude needs about 10,000 more servings of humble pie

Seravalli has never passed a physical in his life
I don’t understand people that fat shame, does it actually make people feel better?

I know some people that are on the heavy side, they are legitimately some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

I think it’s shit taste making fun of people that are overweight.

Makes me think that Rutherford got wind that he’s about to lose the trade, and made another phone call.

Is that really backtracking though? Maybe I’m missing something here but Vancouver could be out and there could also be 5/6 other teams in the mix?

As Canuck fans would you consider a Jiricek and Johnson trade for Lekkerimaki and Willander? Bring home a local boy with tons of skill and a Big RHD who can step in the lineup quicker?

Also what exactly did Seravalli do to some of you for him to garner this kind of hate lol

Was he wrong on a Canucks scoop? Did he praise a rival team?

The horror... ?

Frank backtracking after realizing it’s stupid to not string along a passionate Canadian fan base on a trade rumour.

What a donkey.

Guy has been a clown ever since ruining the Kracken expansion draft.

IIRC, he went on some spiel about how he doesn't like Vancouverites because they're all rich and arrogant, while he's a jeans-wearing blue collar worker from oil country or whatever.

Personally, I could care less about his hockey takes but he just comes off as a total f***ing dweeb.
