Every deal is price dependent but we have no idea what Waddell will want or accept.

But the notion we shouldn't try to add Jiricek because it doesn't help win the presidents trophy this season is ridiculous.

If it costs Willander/Lekk then it makes no sense and we're out, fine, but that's largely fan assumption, real life deals happen all the time fans Do not and can not predict.

The point being we should absolutely be trying to add Jiricek, regardless of his presumed time-line to contribution.
Let's not pretend lekk&Will are our only assets, possibly most valuable prospects, but not the only assets.

(Same for every trade target, all our top swedish prospects are probably not going anywhere, save for another Guentzel tier addition)

It would cost Willander/Lekk or similar though.

That’s what people are referring to. Other than those and our 1st, there isn’t really much of significant value.

On a different note - Carolina is on the hunt for a goalie. With Demko nearing a return, Lankinen cementing his position as a No. 2, and there already being a logjam of goaltenders in Abbotsford...do the Canucks consider moving Silovs in a package for some defensive help?

You know the Hurricanes would only offer a 5th & AHL contract.

I think trading Hoglander now is stupid since he has a PDO of .951
I have 10 guys in front of him. I can't imagine Tocchet deploying him over any of them when healthy.

And even when those guys have been injured, Bains & Lekkerimaki have been given his higher up ice time when needed over the past 10.

I could easily see Hoglander deployed higher once his PDO normalizes. Couple goals, a few less GA, and he's back in the discussion.

He leads the Canucks forwards in Scoring Chances for %, he will get more goals. This freakout about his play is all vibes, giving up on a player this early due to a cold streak is f***ing dumb and if they do give up on him now it'll be incredibly disappointed.

Given their previous interest in hog I could see a package deal with silovs, hopefully for Jackson Blake or Drury, and a pick we use to upgrade the defense.

They wanted Hoglander for Bear and the Canucks hung up the phone. Apparently have asked for Hoglander multiple times.

They are a very analytics focussed organization and Hoglander has very solid numbers despite all the negativity. He has the highest 5v5 individual goal and xGoal rate on the team over the last 3 seasons. Very effective player along the boards and in the dirty areas around the net.

Frank Seravalli vs some random guy on reddit

The credibility battle of the century
The hilarious part is that the random guy on Reddit broke the rumour and is probably more credible on this point by virtue of the fact that he’s already demonstrated to have a legitimate connection to Columbus.

This is giving me flashbacks to when the old CDC forums were around, and everyone and their dog loved to post fake, BS rumors.

The Hodgson-for-Perry trade, the Canucks moving on from Dan Cloutier because he hit someone with his fancy car, I'm sure there were others.

Of course, the famed "BBQ salesman" story originated right here on HF as far as I know.

I believe Botchford actually had a hand in spreading that one!

Took him a couple of years to live it down.
