If / when Marjamaki gets fired who'll replace him.
Finland doesn't have any national team caliber coach available right at the moment.

Kari Jalonen head coach SC Bern in NLA.
Jukka Jalonen head coach Jokerit Helsinki KHL
Karri Kivi head coach of Tampereen Ilves FEL team
Jussi Ahokas head coach Team Finland U20 team
Juuso Nieminen head coach TPS Turku U20 team
Hannu Jortikka retired
Jukka Rautakorpi head coach Tappara Tampere
Erkka Westerlund head coach Salavat Julajev UFA KHL.
Antti Törmänen no coaching experience in national team.
Raimo Summanen isn't option he's total psycho who can't control himself when he gets mad.

Of course Finnish Hockey Association can hire North American / European head coach with big money but who that guy is.
 
Well at least hockey is now on the front pages of French news sites although there is an election going too.

How did the crowd react to the french goals ? Was the stadium louder and more enthusiastic than during the game between Slovenia/Canada ?

I was at the Slovenia/Canada game and I did notice that there were a lot of french fans and french families waiting for the game against Finland but attending the Canada game beforehand.
 
Congratulations France. What a game and what emotion from the French team. They were proud to wear that jersey. Had some Selänne-levels of class in the end.

Finland was unlucky not to score 1 or 2 more goals but in the end that would not have brought home the W.

France was better and what a showing for the home crowd. Couldn't be happier for the French team in their home tournament. I hope they go far.

That being said, Finland has some blatant issues they need to address if they want to seriously compete. And for the love of god, don't sit Pulju. If for no other reason than to let the kid play. It can't get much worse than this.

Lmao what an overreaction. It's just a one game. If the whole tournament goes badly then yes kick Marjamaki and get someone else for olympics. It's not like Jalonen's road to gold was all smooth sailing.

Congratz for France a blowout win. Finland has never lost this badly in Football against France.
 
If only France could've scored one more goal and we Swedes would never have to hear another "6-1" again, since we'd have the perfect comeback.

There was a lot going for Jalonen in terms of how his team played; none for Marjamäki.

Bykov is free. But I'm sure Finnish Hockey Association will never appoint a Russian coach. Even if he lives in Switzerland.

This exactly. And every single game since Marjamäki became the coach has been looking exactly the same. Complete handbreak hockey. Like driving your car 100 km with your handbreak on all the time. Just so horrible play.

Westerlund took a team with much worse players to the final and got silver. Mark my words, Finland will seriously be fighting against relegation if Marjamäki stays as coach until the end of the tournament. The serious problem is though that there is probably no real option to here to save the team in the middle of the tournament.
 
Someone here mentioned that there was really no drive to the net from Finnish players and I noticed it too. Completely happy to stay on the perimeter or drive up to the boards and shoot 0% shots. Typically Finnish, but it's maybe gotten even worse now. PP also slow and spread around. Defense also sloppy and soft. So much to do with this one to make it work...
 
Well, as bad as it is, great to have those home fans in Paris truly engaged in their home Arena.

I feel like this style of play was going away last year, hence the high number of goals scored, but now it seems like it never left. This isn't Liiga.
