Am I wrong or this bode quite well for next year Olympics? I think Switzerland has the least NHL impact (some secondary minutes by Malgin) of the 8 qualified, right? I hope Fischer manage to keep the core intact and use this WC experience to get to the quarter, maybe even semifinal (dreaming) at the next Olympics!

I know is the day thread of this game, but I was more commenting about the overall tournament results of a Team with only NLA players. Is not a given to pick second place with no NHL, and this for sure bode well for an olympics without NHL.

I'm sorry I hijacked the day game thread with an overall comment on the suisse performance so far

If NHL'ers don't come, i do believe that it bodes well.

Remarkably, Fischer has a lot of young guys in this team. He is building. Good chess game Fischer ... bobby ??

Remember that when Russia had the break, their players went to play in the NHL.
This was the first time that Swizerland beat Great Russia with , at the time, Alexander Mogihilny, and some others ...

Passing from a all Russian system to a system including NHLers reveald lethal for them.

I see about the same thing for us.

We have to keep the NHL lines and the LNA lines.

Then having NHLers is nice : Josi, Nino ... but it means that in front you have Ovechkin, Weber & Suter (the americans) , Crosby, and Mc David. ... ! it doesn't really balance in our favor. For the other countries, the impact is less.

Learning the NHL doesn't let their players go would be the best piece of news for us for our chances to win.

I dont want to downgrade your today effort but It was also partly about czech team being somehow completely out of rythm. Your position will also change from being danger dark horse to serious contender and other teams wil adjust to that. True is you will have legit chance to make some result.

In this case I would rise question why you dont compete in Euro hockey tour. It might be because of politics or because czech euro squad is still considered better or mix of both..

Anyway, it will be interesting tourney, for sure.

We also beat Canada and got a point vs Finland when the team was dog tired because of playing less than 24h before against the top nation in hockey all the way into OT. Beating the Czech wasn't an isolated event. We even rested 4 players for today's game, including our tournament leading (Sv%) goaltender.

About the Euro Hockey Tour, I don't know. Maybe it's a traditional Scandinavian + Russia tournament and they like to keep it like that?
