This might be a record blowout defeat in Elite tier history.

20-0 is actually not out of question.

No offense to Italian fans, but Italy is the worst team I've seen play at this level.

That's the consequence of a lot of bad decisions made by the Italian federation (coaching staff, players). The team Italy had two years ago in Germany performed much better than this one. Players like Alex Egger, Thomas Larkin and Giulio Scandella are now retired or injured, but this does not explain such a big difference.

If Andreas Bernard makes same effort than yesterday, it could end under 10 to Russia...

It would be hard to imagine Bernard starting vs Russia after facing 65 shots the previous night. He might have to take over, though, at some point during the game. :D

Vasilevskiy will start confirmed. He needs games to stay in game shape.

since you are more into Team Russia, what about Kaprizov? only one or two shifts in game vs Czech. Barabanov on the other hand 18 minutes of TOI. is he really this good (barabanov) to skates 18 min while Kaprizov (proven goalscorer) sits on the bench? telegin and andronov are role players i guess. or maybe its injury-related thing or they just resting him after long season in KHL?

Andronov is really good at the dot. The best center on team Russia, while that's not a great feat:laugh:. Russian top centers aren't great at faceoffs. Malkin, Kuznetsov, Anisimov... So Andronov is a valuable role player and n adequate 4th line center. Telegin is also obviously a 4th liner all the way. Grit, speed, energy, but less skill.

Kaprisov got demoted by the coach for no apparent reason. It is painfully obvious that among the superstars on that team Ovechkin and Kuznnetsov underperform big time so far. And obviously Kaprizov wasn't the reason for that.Nonetheless Vorobiev decided to replace him with Barabanov on that line with obvious outcome. No production. Barabanov is a good player in his own right, but not Kaprizov caliber and if the superstars on the line don't come out of the slump Barabanov won't solve that.

Today's skate had Kaprizov skating on the 4th line with Kovalchuk and Andronov. Let's see how that pans out.

Hopefully Italy will come out and give it their best shot. They are professionals with pride.

They know they are out matched.
