Sebastian Aho - Valtteri Filppula - Mikko Rantanen
Veli-Matti Savinainen - Tomi Sallinen - Antti Pihlström
Mika Pyörälä - Joonas Kemppainen - Miro Aaltonen
Markus Hännikäinen - Jani Lajunen - Oskar Osala

Atte Ohtamaa - Julius Honka
Topi Jaakola - Ville Lajunen
Mikko Lehtonen - Juuso Hietanen
Joonas Järvinen - Lasse Kukkonen

Korpisalo in net.

Puljujärvi will be scratched from this game. Miro Aaltonen retakes a spot in the lineup.

Please pay mind that Sallinen is the centre in his line, not Pihlström. And Kukkonen's number is #5, not #77.

Kukkonen didn't play at all during the last 2 games, I guess he's not fully recovered. Was in the line-up but no ice time.

Yeah. He was basically a mascot. Will be interesting to see if he gets any minutes here.

Got it! No sure where I got that 77, as far as I remember he always wore 5 with Finland.

That's what happens when you try to keep up with 16 lineups ;)

imo a 50:50 game all things considered, perhaps a 60:40 for Finland but just because the Swiss might be tired after late game against Canada

I doubt! Swiss is too strong! Finland is underdog ;)!

It's the third back-to-back game for Switzerland, the first two times they played much better in the 2nd game (vs. Norway and Belarus).
Let's see, both teams need points to secure the Quarters and maybe avoid russia.

I still don't understand why Pilhstrom is protected and maitained in the line up. Je brings absolutely nothing offensively. Finland struggles to score precisely because the 2nd and 3rd lines have no offensive talent.

On the other hand, Pulju on the bench...

Well, in case you didn't notice, Finland struggled to score even when the offensively talented Puljujärvi was in the lineup.

0+0 for Pulju this far - which is nothing but a disappointment for a player of his profile. However, nobody even expects more than that from Pihlström (he's 0+2). Pillu's status in the lineup is explained by Pillu being who he is and doing what Pillu does.

That being said, given our offensive struggles, maybe they should have tried to pool whatever offensive potential we have (beyond the 1st, that is) into one line and see if anything comes of it.
Savinainen-M.Aaltonen-Puljujärvi could have been an interesting experiment.

Obviously they won't do it anymore though, this late into the tournament.

I find that bit odd. Kukkonen is our captain, but is there really such a lack of leadership that we need to put him in a line-up even though he couldn´t really play.

He has been really successful on the scoresheet but he is bringing some energy and shots. Against France, he was almost the only one to step up.

We have known Pihlstrom for years and we exactly know what we can get from him: speed and energy, but almost zero offensive presence. On the other hand, we know that Pulju has a good shot and could bring something offensively. I would bet on him and give responsibilities to our young talents.

Pulju was given, IMO, a ton of opportunities to succeed. He had good, familiar linemates and got PP time. He should've got something done already. That supposedly good shot isn't much use either if it doesn't find the back of the net - or, in a bit too many cases, even the goalie.

I've no doubt he'll still be one heckuva player for us one day. But in his current form, I fully understand why the management decided to pluck him out of the lineup.

Not that we'd be desperate or anything, but St. Paul's congregation in Helsinki has setup a game studio today at St. Paul's Church full with a pre-game Eucharist and bells and whistles. Hannu Jortikka and Raipe Helminen as the commentating liturgists.

... and Late goes and scratches Jesse. Figures.

i think the pressure and expectations have gone so down that finland will actually win this game. 4-2 with pillu making 2 angry fight goals

Well, of course we can beat Switzerland, they are maybe slightly better than Norway but nothing hugely impressive. This team has struggled but they have been playing better lately. The material is not that good but there we go (and have gone far with similar level teams).

i think it's 50/50 between finland and switzerland, the swiss are mabye a bit tired after the big fight yesterday. but their weapon are always their speed, which they among to the best....

Your word in God s ear ;)!

Aaltonen and Puljujärvi healthy scratches.

Finland going with the 1-4-4-4 line setup, I see.

Not dressed for Switzerland: Damien Brunner.

Suter - Malgin - Ambühl
Hollenstein - Haas - Praplan
Bodenmann - Richard - Herzog
Schäppi - Almond - Rüfenacht
Suri

Hiller is injured, Schlegel backups Genoni.

On paper that Swiss team is pretty bad. That 1st line would probably be 4th line on Finnish team. Expecting Finland to win.

haha i think you have no clue what you are talking about. i am sure you have not yet seen any games from those players ;). some of those young playes have a lot of talent and will maybe play in the nhl sooner or later.

Meant no offense. I know every player on that 1st line and they aren't that good.
