So our strategy for today was to get as many penalties as we can, hope that we don't get scored on and all this PP time will get French 1st line so tired they will be unable to produce anything in the third... that pretty much sums it up

Its just a pitty that referees didnt see that high stick from plekanec, that would make the first French line even more tired than now :sarcasm:

The Swedish announcers keep saying "Pastrnyak", is that the right pronounciation? In general they're much better at finding out the right pronounciation than NHL announcers are.

I'm not sure that the NHL announcers make an attempt to pronounce foreign names correctly.

French looked pretty pathetic in the third tbh. Deserved win in the end...

Plekanec with 0 pts through 6 games. He really lost a step. Last year in St. Petersburg he still looked pretty good. He is 34 after all.

Yeah, he's been a disappointment so far even though he's getting little better as the the tourney goes, I think.. but I have a feeling that he will step up his game when the play-off comes

Lol Šimek in an interview when asked about the high sticking penalties he said "We are fencing like musketeers there we have to avoid that next time...". I love it when players can give a non generic (and true) answer, it says something about the player too...

Clearly, France was gassed.
7 games in 9 days, that's a lot and a lot of guys are not used to that. We rely on our 1st line, our 5 big guns (Auvitu, Da Costa, Bellemare, Roussel, Fleury) but it's tough for the rest and they can't take over the ship when the best ones are fatigued.

France has battled hard in every game, I agree that they were gassed.

It was not that long ago France were an easy mark but the last few years they have been able to compete. Hope the trend continues.

Enjoy the team's spirit.
