It looks bad when you slow it down, but realize that its a split second ... you go to check cleanly a player with a puck and he makes himself very low and it gets dangerous because of that, thats all. When you have your head barely above waist height where do you expect other players to have their hands/stick? - at the knee height?

3:1 is very harsh for France. 5 on 5 we are better, but they had so many great chances in those pps (12 minutes all combined) and they got robbed of another at least 2+2 for Plekanec high stick

I completely get your frustration, I remember so many games like this we played against weaker opponents. Its pretty ironic that now we are pretty much in the position of the weaker oppononent (in terms of great scoring chances) and the pucks just go in for us xD ... I'm not complaining though
