So we won. Whatever. I'm not any more optimistic about this team than before this game. There really is something off there. Lousy hockey.

Säteri was really bad. I put both goals on him, but in the first goal both D dropped too low and opponent was able to turn in the middle without any stick pressure and shoot. Still managed to shoot only a crappy shot, säteri saw it, but still let it in.
I have to agree with this 100%. With a better goalie, it would've been a 5-0 game.

Säteri isn't a garbage goalie, but he did nothing here to challenge Korpisalo for the starter job.

Which does not excuse the lousy defending and emotionless game which led to some of the chances.

It was all Laine.

This game with laine and good goalie, 7-0. Laine wouldve tapped in one of those basically-empty netters and some clapshot, and some wrister. That wouldve engouraged others and they wouldve been sharper, too.

So much missed big chances in this one. Guy like laine puts those best ones in, 99 out of 100 and im not kidding. Add to it his dangles and sharp passes.

Hietanen still ate many goals from laine last year, not being able to give 2m pass right even at 5on3 pp. Same continues, he cant give peliä edistävä pass on PP. Its always that half second too late and 30cm off for one timer

Laine did nothing in the important games. Our roster was stacked.

Yeah, he just decided the wins in playoffs games against Denmark and Russia. Against Canada no one scored in fact from Finland, but even in that game Laine was damn close to scoring. He was damn good in most of the games. The biggest problem was in fact Barkov in the playoffs. Dude faded away almost completely. His possible injury could have something to do with it though. On the other hand Barkov has a very bad habit of completely fading away in the really important games.

But missing Laine does really show because Finnish forwards are pretty bad in scoring. Only Aho, Rantanen and Savinainen have some consistency in goal scoring. The rest couldn't hit a barn's wall if they had to, except Pulju, who seems to hit the posts consistently. Unfortunately he doesn't seem like a goal scorer too much either, at least at the moment.

All this makes me appreciate Laine even much more. The kid scored an amazing amount of goals and points in the WHC as only under 18. And he is only going to get better. Scary thought...
