Before the tournament begun, I said that Finland would lose vs Slovenia.

We'll see if I was correct or if I should have picked France instead.

FIN lineup.

Sebastian Aho - Valtteri Filppula - Mikko Rantanen
Veli-Matti Savinainen - Tomi Sallinen - Antti Pihlström
Mika Pyörälä - Joonas Kemppainen - Jesse Puljujärvi
Markus Hännikäinen - Jani Lajunen - Oskar Osala

Atte Ohtamaa - Julius Honka
Topi Jaakola - Ville Lajunen
Mikko Lehtonen - Juuso Hietanen
Joonas Järvinen - Lasse Kukkonen

Säteri in net.

Säteri is the starting goalie (first start of the tournament).

Lineups that were used at the training were:

Sebastian Aho – Valtteri Filppula – Mikko Rantanen

Jesse Puljujärvi – Joonas Kemppainen – Mika Pyörälä

Veli-Matti Savinainen – Tomi Sallinen – Antti Pihlström

Markus Hännikäinen – Jani Lajunen – Oskar Osala

Heh. Finland practically has a 1st line and three 4th lines.

I don't think even Marjamäki's Finland can lose to Slovenia,
nothing out from Slovenia,but...we are going to win this for sure, right?.

8...i count 8!!! defensive/2-way forwards out of 12
nicely done Marjamäki,nicely built team.

Players that were available, who wasnt even asked to join
or players Marjamäki just decided to cut without any good reason:

Olli Palola - scored 22 goals*, 50 points* this season for Vaxjö
Henrik Haapala - scored 17 goals*,70 points*
this season for Tappara

Janne Keränen - scored 30 goals*,54 points this season
for Kalpa

Petri Kontiola - scored 20 goals*,48 points* this season for Lokomotiv
Tuomas Kiiskinen - scored 17 goals* this season for Vaxjö
Jesse Mankinen - scored 23 goals*, 50 points* this season
for Kalpa

Sebastian Repo - scored 20 goals*, 43 points this season for
Tappara and pelicans

Janne Pesonen - scored 15 goals* this season for Ambri-Piotta
Simon Suoranta - scored 19 goals* this season for Ässät

Out of these, Haapala was injured and Kontiola and Kiiskinen declined.

Also, I presume the four "offensive" forwards in the lineup you refer to are Aho, Filppula, Rantanen and Puljujärvi? Well, on top of them, there're...

Veli-Matti Savinainen - 35 goals, 67 points
Mika Pyörälä - 26 goals, 56 points
Oskar Osala - 20 goals, 35 points
Markus Hännikäinen - 20 goals, 39 points

So, to sum up - Three guys on your list weren't available. Palola being cut was something we could debate, I give you that. But the rest of the names you're pining after wouldn't have made an ounce of difference. Please do more research before you post.

I hope Finland wins but... last game got some lucky goals and threw game on last period. If Slovenia haves good work mood i think its 50/50 game...

Finally a game, where everything will go the right way for Finns.

So was the last game, and they turtled up courtesy of it. Veikkkaus' 16.50 for Slovenia win on regular is tempting, very tempting...

A quick goal for Slovenia and we will see a total breakdown within the finnish team. For some reason I hope it will hapend. It will be what requires for the management of finnish hockey to get sober again.

Would be so much fun to see us losing :D These have been the worst WHCs for Finland as long as I have been following hockey. Not to mention the world Cup.

Since when is that? Because barring the France loss, there's been nothing that hasn't been business as usual. A close win from Belarus, a close loss to Czechia (another top country), weird lines, scoring struggles, defensive lapses... it's like any other year really.

Usually we would be winning the Czechs and the way we lost it was tragicomic. France scored 5 goals against us and we barely won Belarus.

Plain wrong. We've run across them seven times over the last ten years, and are 2-5.

we barely won Belarus.
Over the same timespan, we've met them five times and have scored more than two on them exactly once - last year. We even lost to them back in 2009. So potting three this year was actually better than the norm.

So yeah, apart from the France embarrassment, it's really been business as usual. I recommend reading some stats books before posting.

I don't care. Perhaps the fact that Marjamäki has been coaching us like crap has made me see everything negatively.
