Considering we got lucky with the video, I guess it's a fitting end.

Oh well, glad we got back from a 0:3 and this could be a golden point in the end.

Well if Slovakia gets one more point they should be save. Its unlikely that Italy would get even the three points needed now, but getting more seems almost impossible.

I'm not saying these are bad players, as 3/4th liners they can be very useful within their team, but its never really expected of them to make a difference - they should just do their job well. The Slovaks have no finishers, no true leaders.

I agree they probably dont have finishers but there is Bliznak, Dravecky,, Sersen , Cajkovsky, Mikus. They should lead this team. Definetely better than Reway imo

Mikus, Sersen are supposedly one of our best defenders, but they're not playing that well, sadly. Cajkovsky is promising.

Bliznak, Dravec are decent and Miklik is the key to our division retention.

I still maintain that if the bench-dude went for a different line ups, we could have more effective lines and wouldn't have to rely on a single goalscorer.

Mother of hell, this just occurred to me:

Slovakia 3 pts
Denmark 2 pts
Italy 1 pt

If Italy somehow beats Denmark after regular time, we'll be tied at 3 pts each in the minigroup, with equal score. What's the next tie-breaker? Goals scored?

Step 2: Should three or more teams still remain tied in points then the better goal difference in the direct games amongst the tied teams will be decisive.
Step 3: Should three or more teams still remain tied in points and goal difference then the highest number of goals scored by these teams in their direct games will be decisive.

I think Step 3 would decide then, it would really be down to how many goals are scored in the Italy-Denmark game.

Should Italy beat Denmark 5:4pp, then Slovakia relegates.
Should Italy beat Denmark 4:3pp, then Step 4 below decides who relegates.
Should Italy beat Denmark 3:2pp or less then Italy relegates.

Step 4: Should three or more teams still remain tied in points, goal difference and goals scored then the results between each of the three teams and the closest best-ranked team outside the sub-group will be applied. In this case the tied team with the best result (1. points, 2. goal difference, 3. more goals scored) against the closest best ranked-team will take precedence

Denmark is protected as they organize the next championship. So the tie would only be between you and italy - so Italy would get relegated because they lost to you.

As for the rules:
Step 1: Taking into consideration the games between each of the tied teams, a sub-group is created applying the points awarded in the direct games amongst the tied teams from which the teams are then ranked accordingly.
Step 2: Should three or more teams still remain tied in points then the better goal difference in the direct games amongst the tied teams will be decisive.
Step 3: Should three or more teams still remain tied in points and goal difference then the highest number of goals scored by these teams in their direct games will be decisive
Step 5: Should the teams still remain tied, then the results between each of the three teams and the next highest best-ranked team outside the sub-group will be applied.
Step 6: Should the teams still remain tied after these five steps have been exercised then Sport considerations will be applied and the teams will be ranked by their positions coming into the Championship (seeding).

Win is 3 points dude, so if Italy beats Danemark in regulation they will get 4pts and we are screwed. Let's pray to Jesus, Yehova, Shiva, Buddha it doesn't happen.

Please do us a solid and defeat Germany so you can safely reamain in the Elite and we can get into Quarters, its a win-win:laugh: alright? Kthxbye.

Your wish is our command, Sir. We only need to have good day, Germany having bad day, their goalie contracting malaria and refs turning blind eye for the first 30 and also last 30 minutes. Walk in the park I say.

After regular time, not in regular time. By after regular time I meant in the OT or SO.

Right you are.

I knew Denmark was protected, but I wasn't sure if they get completely removed from the calculation, or if the sub-group would be created as normal but if Denmark should be the one to get relegated, the second worse team would take their place instead.

And, of course, thanks for posting the rules.

That's not true I believe. Plain and simple - team on 8th place is relegated. If it is Denmark, then team on 7th place relegates. Standing are decided regardless who organizes next championship. So if DEN,SVK and ITA has 3pts each, standard rules apply to decide standings 6th-8th and only if Denmark is 8th, then 7th goes down.

I do love that future host rule thing...its always fun how much math is generated...nobody never seems super sure

Update on the dissalowed goal. Slovak news asked Vladimir Schindler (Czech referee) on the new Rule 98 and he said the goal was correctly disallowed that for the Rule 98 to be valid, both of the points have to happen, in other words, according to the Ref Jacobsen was not in the act of shooting, because in the meantime the goalie has already made a save, which nulified Jacobsen act of shooting.

RULE 98 – SCORING A GOAL/GOAL FRAME OFF
i.
If a defending player displaces his own goal frame and the opposing
team scores a goal, the goal will be allowed provided:
1.
The opponent was in the act of shooting prior to the goal frame
being displaced;
2.
The referee determines the puck would have entered the goal net
had the goal frame been in its normal position.
