Its actually quite sad, i grew up watching hockey and always saw Slovakia as "one of the big boys". So tell me slovakians, is it the federations fault, the coaches? What the hell went wrong in these last 7-8 years?

The "golden generation" has retired and got replaced by the "lost generation".

It will get better, eventually, but at right now we have an even smaller player base than we used to back in the good times.

It should be said, that even then, when our top players didn't come to WCH, our strength dropped significantly. But our average players (without the best) were way better than it is now.

Just checked the score.

Damn, Slovakia really has slipped. Dropping a point to Italy, losing to Latvia, losing to Denmark....

They seem roughly equal to me.

I'm not sure if it's the same for Italy, but a lot of our A-game players are missing from this roster for one reason or another.

Getting relegated because of that would indeed suck, but if it happens, it is what it is.

I understand. It wasnt my intention to bash your team. It was meant to Slovakia whose games have been simply unwatchable for two straight years (probably except the last against Latvia)I dont see big difference on ice between this team or last year team. There is always some issue either because Tatar is not comming or in head or whatever but those teams just look they are half sleeping or I dont know. Just ****ing start playing for 110 percent. Is that so hard?

Dont worry, I am not offended. I just feel the same way about the Danish team. :) i almost didnt turn on the television, because of the two first games Denmark played. I wouldnt be surprised if you win this and we also lose to Italy.

Wow, I never realized how weak this group of Slovak forwards actually is until I just look at them detaily and see their stats.. oh boy
But good for them to start scoring now.. give me one more :)

Geez with Italy, we probably had our first and last realistic chance to listen Svk anthem at this year's World's, and they play us Slovenian

Bye bye A pool, it was while it lasted.

All they have to do to stay up is not be dead last in the pool. Surely that's doable.

I didn't mean just this tournament (though even here they are better imo). The Slovaks still have infinitely more depth than italy (some ageing NHL players but mostly a lot of players in european leagues). Slovakia simply has better hockey players than italy.

In this tournament Denmark IS the favorite on paper, considering that Slovak team is just 3rd/4th liners from Czech extraliga and other European Leagues.

You might think I am crazy but I believe better czech organizations like Sparta, Brno, Chomutov, Hradec can prepare players to play modern intensive hockey. Definetely should be good enough against weaken Denmark, Italy or even Latvia. In the end of the day they always outshoot them, dont they?

Slovakia is obviously missing far more players and would beat Italy easily with more of their top players on the team but those players are not part of the team and thus irrelevant.

I'm not saying these are bad players, as 3/4th liners they can be very useful within their team, but its never really expected of them to make a difference - they should just do their job well. The Slovaks have no finishers, no true leaders.

I agree, this team can thank Latvia for fighting hard today.

heh...so bad its almost funny..

The amount of **** play took 2 periods to produce, we only need a half to replicate. Go denmark:-(
