We probably have just avoided a relegation.
We probably have just avoided a relegation.
What did they play?
I turned it off
This isn't even surprising to Slovaks. We sent a very weak team of players that are mostly 3rd liner quality even on club level, so hard to expect any of them to take any responsibility on their shoulders and be creative. Also the general public believes the coach and the team manager are just weak, but I rather avoid that discussion.
This Slovak team can't score and it would be a huge surprise to me should we somehow make it to quarters, in fact I'll be surprised by any win.
This is what comes to my mind. He must have assumed that nobody is comming. I watched just part of the game. But in this case I would expect italians hanging on boards and slovaks crushing them shift by shift just to make them hate to play against you. No special combinations, just speed and aggressivity. Instead of it I watched quite dizorganized hockey... You can get better than in this match...
They cut the Latvian anthem after the 1st verse, so the fans had to finish the anthem on their own. It was a pretty nice moment, but this makes me think it wasn't done exactly on purpose. What country's anthem was that!?![]()
No one knows, it wasn't Italy's anthem either.
it might be Slovenian anthem.. as always, braindead organizers
I just youtubed the Slovenian one and it doesn't seem to be it either, but I might be wrong. So it's a mystery as to what they actually played.
Looking at the lineup card and "?" Sums up my thoughts well. Why didn't any Slovak NHLers decide to play?
Most declined on grounds of A. being injured or B. being tired after a long season . Given that B. is a lame excuse, most Slovaks believe there is some silent protest against the hockey federation and/or the current national coach and his management.
And to clarify to the internationals here, our current coach Zdeno Ciger is not really a hated figure, but simply considered to be a very weak coach who has little idea of roster management, let alone of coaching. A curiousity of his is that he chose not to nominate the best Slovak scorer in KHL saying that he doesn't fit the first two lines... don't ask...

maybe there is still something we dont know about....
are there still some fractions in association... ? Who is the biggest opponent ? If it is something to translate...
So Slovaks dominates this game but just can't find a way to bury their chances? any thoughts on Italy? I wrote in team discussions that ITA lost twice to my team Poland (and thats more than pathetic) so this result is a little surprising, at least for me. Even without top players, I expected more from our neighbors
