It was an entertaining game, but I agree, it feels the Swedish strategy in the offensive zone is weak. They don't get to the net and that's what they've been talking about for years now.

Game could've gone either way. Russia winning in the SO wasn't underserved at all.

advantage for Sweden in first
even second
advantage for Russia in third (a little bit bigger advantage than swedish advantage in the first)
OT for Russia
so logical income.

Congrats everyone.

Someone has to play on PK, have a D responsibilities on this team too.

Disagree, Most of the forwards can kill penalties at this level, its not rocket science. You tell Kaprizov to be kill a penalty he will be very good at it. I would pull Namestnikov for Kaprizov in a second BTW

Both teams offensive games and puck management was off. Guys not in synch, missing passes, not finding the open man etc..

Surprised by our KHLers, they had a very solid game

I am not surprised, a lot of your KHLers who are on this team could be easily pretty good NHL players... after all Antipin, Bereglazov, Mironov just signed NHL deals.

Shipachyov & Dadonov are going to NHL. Mozyakin could obviously play in NHL, too.

Same goes for young skilled forwards like Tkachyov, Gusev & Barabanov, imo.

It's pretty much selection of best forwards from Europe.

William Karlsson have been pretty bad in 4 straight games now. Very mehish player. I expected him to play with more hustle and to be more skilled.

I think the biggest reason why the Russian team isn't creating much is the Swedish team is very good at keeping very good gap control. The skilled Russian players don't have much time and space to get speed and momentum, one second and there's a Swede putting pressure on them and cutting lanes.

The Swedish TV booth just talked about how Swedish NHL defensemen are so much better at evaluating the situation, knowing when they should apply pressure, when to back away and with the puck; when to play tricky, when to play it safe. Add to that, basically every Swedish forward is very skilled in the two-way game.

I think both teams are playing quite well, of course both are not in synergy as this is the first game, but both teams can go very far. The tempo in the game is very high and even though there were only 11 shots in the 2nd period, the entertainment value was high.

This is a game between the Swedish D and the Russian offense and so far Sweden is winning.

This. If it is not best defence in tourney, it is the most confident defence. Having to add that even swedish junior Ds look much advanced than their opponents. If you also have such extraordinary forwards, you must have challenge Canada in BOB

Sweden looked terrible in the 3rd though...
