We can always hope that the work ethic in team russia is sub-par this game. I don't think they really care who they face in the QF's. Confidence is high among a lot of the Russian players.

If Russia is in fact confident of a win, there is no good reason for it yet. Teams they have beaten are a level below Sweden, and Sweden always plays Russia to the edge. Russia should accomplish something notable before becoming confident.

The offense is uneven, the defense is shaky as hell and the goalies are alright. That's not enough to win against Russia, a country that has a majority of the NHL players accepting a WHC invitation. In Sweden's case it's almost none. A solid Russian team against Sweden's C team shouldn't be a question who will win.

As to Fransson, I didn't understand what was so great about him even in Luleå. He never hits the net, isn't that good with the puck and isn't that great in his own end.

He is living proof that, if you're a gifted enough skater you can fool people that you're a good hockey player even though it should be pretty obvious that you suck ***
