Nice win for USA!

Lol at number 7 on Russia's jersey. US can scrum it up with any team in this tournament, that much I know

The good guys lose.:(

Great experience for us moving forward though.

I wish I was there. :( Today was the day I wanted to go. To see both Russia and Germany play, but not each other (hence being able to root for both).

For me it wasn't even my first choice of date but I'm so Glad I came. It is sold out for this game and will be for the Germany game, and I'm sitting right next to the standing room area where it's loudest.
Sucks that Russia lost, though.

The best team definitely won today, and I predict that the United States will beat Canada to win the Gold Medal. The USA is so sound in every phase of the game, and they use their junior national team system as if they have been playing together for 10 years.

Russia has a chance to win the Bronze Medal, but either Sweden or Finland will be focused on taking advantage of their chronic defensive weakness. Note to the RHF: Please stop sending those "NHL Star" reinforcements. Are there words to describe how bad Kuznetsov was? He's the same guy he always has been - immature, selfish, unpredictable, and prone to making game-losing plays! Why was he needed, and how soon can he be demoted to the 4th line for "occasional play"? Orlov was invisible, which means, as a defenseman, that you are more of a liability than an asset.

Kaprizov instead of Nichushkin would look way better on that line with Kuznetsov and Barabanov. But I still think we have chances to win the tournament.

Back to hockey, Znarok got outcoached yet again, Kuznetsov isn't integrated into team play (is it actually worth it to wait for 2nd round dropouts?) and defense still falls apart against NA-style game. What's new?

US as of recent shows that their system produces enough depth to be seriously competitive at all levels.

I agree with many, Russia should stop bringing NHL dropouts in the middle of the tournaments. They bring very little upside and require a lot of extra work to bring them up to speed.

I and Yakushev are advocating that only KHL players should play at the WC.
While it is a hyperbole, it certainly makes sense. Historically, dropouts did next to nothing, especially Ovechkin. I don't blame the players, they, instead, should be praised to still be willing to show up to the National team. Of course exceptions should be made for more finesse guys like Panarin, or Shypachyov-Dadonov-Gusev, or again Kucherov when they'll be in the NHL, provided that they won't get after two playoff series, that is.
But still I don't get why our coaches think that players are super-human just because they are from the NHL. Gusev is as good as NHL players and there's a reason why Shipachyov is getting a very good contract in the NHL next year.
