Actually, if Russia wants to avoid Finland it does matter quite a bit. They should lose this match.

But then they'd most likely have to play Canada in the semi finals.

Terrible PP for US there.

Russia has a pretty solid plan. Take penalties all the time to force USA to be on power play and as such, prevent them from scoring.

Vasi's merits they say? I'd say that the USA haven't got much out of their domination. Vasi was very calm and showed that he can stand huge pressure, but frankly the Americans didn't give much danger to his crease.
You need to be a great player at this level to score a goal the way Gusev did. I think he touched one puck in the whole first period and scored. Remember that Kucherov had much more time to tune in in the first game vs Sweden and missed that breakaway on the OT that was much cleaner on space

Indeed. It's always nice to see packed arenas when big teams like USA, Canada, and Russia play each other.

Russia played half the periode with 4 guys. They will come out with more discipline and start playing in the second. To many penalties you will use all your energy just deffending and many players get cold /dont get to play
Telegin walked out by him self so i think and hope he will be back. He is a huge part of this team

On German TV they said, that the Russian team brought their own guy to make Russian announcements in the arena and that he really energized the fans prior to the game.

Not sure if that is standard procedure for them.
