Last 5 team Latvia games against Germany:
  • 2:3 in 2016 OGq,
  • 1:2 in 2015 WCh,
  • 2:3 in 2014 WCh,
  • 0:2 in 2013 WCh,
  • 3:2 in 2012 WCh.

WCh totals - 9GP, 3W-1T-6L, GF:GA 25:18, shutouts 2:1. These games are always tight and tough, but we'll see.
I don't think that this game will be 50/50, more like 40/60 or more in German favor.

Teodors bumped to 2nd line center instead of Sprukts! Finally, Bob!

Also Bicevskis with Zemgus and Kenins instead of Skvrocovs.

What's wrong with Rieder? Any chance he plays tonight or in the QF? (if Germany makes it there).

Twisted his right ankle pretty bad and tore his syndismosis ligament.
Luckily it should heal on its own and he won't need surgery.

If that's how both teams play, I don't get the German idea behind it. His shutdown line out vs Draisaitl is exactly what Hartley wants.

Its quite amazing that as a neutral watcher i give preference to LAT vs GER over FIN vs CAN... Special game, the winner takes it all.

More important game. And Latvia is also pretty fun to watch. They been very good so far. Twice very unlucky. Gotta hope it's gonna work tonight.

Unfair schedule though. Germany well rested while Latvia had to battle Russia yesterday.

Every team had back to back games scheduled somewhen. When the schedule was created, there was no way to know, that this would be a deciding game.

No. Of course not. Everybody expected Latvia to win all games and be qualified after 6

How many chances can you blow? Oh man ...

I hope, this doesn't prove costly for Germany in the end

Lol. Roberts Bukarts is like the ultimate puck hog. Completely crazy. He just loves the friggin puck and he'd never pass or shoot. He holds the puck like for ages everytime he has it:laugh:

Oh dear ... how did that puck miss the goal? Narf ...

Even if it didn't the goalie was there. Merzlikins only weakness seems to be upper half of the net, anything lower he has covered perfectly.
