Watched some DEL. Pielmeier has impressed me in some games.

Pielmeier has been a little up and down but would have been a good choice, in my opinion.
If I was Sturm, I would have given Andreas Jenike a look in the exhibition games as well. He's put up very good numbers behind a suspect defense of the run and gun Ice Tigers and (at least for some time) stolen the starting job from Reimer, who is no slouch himself.
