Based on yesterday's match, we can expect yet another line up changes.

If we manage to active at least one more line, in addition to L2/PP1, we could at least hope for something good.

Rieder injured, Hager suspended, D.Wolf will be put in, leaving Germany with one open spot for the rest of the tournament to be nominated. Behind closed doors I bet they're praying that the Oilers will be outed by the Ducks, so they can fly in Draisaitl asap. Second best option would be Kuehnhackl from the Penguins. Should Edmonton and Pittsburgh go through to the Conference Finals Holzer and Grubauer are the other options for the last spot, but I'm sure Sturm would be less than thrilled with these two.

Why could they have not waited one night to find out whether both Kühnhackl and Draisaitl would be eliminated? Slovakia isn't a particularly dangerous opponent.

Now, that is a good question, but tonights game is a must win if Germany wants to advance to the quarters, so I think they didn't want to mess around. Sturm is quoted by Sport.de with that he didn't want to speculate any longer and that the games now are too important

I understand the point to some extent but I don't see Germany losing to Slovakia considering the way both teams have played. Germany even had a day off yesterday while Slovakia played a late-night game against Denmark which wasn't decided until the shootouts so there's that too.

I don't see why Sturm would be less than thrilled with getting Holzer. He'd be a big boost for the defense, as he has proven in the past. Sure, if he's the one available it means Germany's best player isn't, but that is the only negative. In terms of impact, Holzer probably beats Kühnhackl.

As was expected, line up changes were announced:

http://sport.aktuality.sk/c/275862/...red-nemeckom-niekolko-zmien-v-zlozeni-utokov/

Expected starting line ups:

Hudáček (Laco)

Čajkovský, Sersen,
P. Čerešňák, A. JánošÃk,
Gernát, J. Mikuš,
P. Trška, Šedivý

Miklík, Bližňák, Haščák
Dravecký, L. Hudáček, Skalický
Hrnka, Cingeľ, Kudrna
Matoušek, Zigo, Šťastný

Can't say this is exactly what I expected, but I also didn't know Skokan was out.
