In the globe and mail today Bob Nicholson's saying it's unsure if Gretzky will be involved in a conference call today to further eliminate Olympic hopefuls and get closer to the final roster.As well it was unsure if he would be involved in the decisions for the final roster.If that is the case Crosby is no longer a lock. IMO there is no way Wayne would leave him off the team but someone else might although they shouldn't.I also think this could have consequences for Doan and Bertuzzi.I'm not saying all 3 just 1 of the 3.

I'm a little surprised that he may not participate.I admire he wants to be with his mother but you would think he could handle a phone call.

It's probably not that big a deal. His mother has been sick for some time, so I don't think his potential absence came totally out of the blue. I'm sure Nicholson and the others have a pretty good idea of who he wants. Maybe he's already submitted a list.
 
It's understandable that he won't participate because his mother is dying. I wouldn't take any phone calls or go into work if my mother was dying.
