I was thinking about the Party line and did that got me thinking about great lines in history and their nicknames As a kid there was something about the MPH line of Pit Martin, Jim Pappin and Dennis Hull. that fascinated me. I'm not sure if it was the payers or the cool nickname that got me into them, but Dennis became my favorite player. While going down memory lane I found a whole bunch of great Hawks lines and there nicknames including one of my favorite lines that shared the Party line nickname. I'm embarrassed I forgot the previous Party Line nickname.

So who are some of your favorite hawks lines, and who can remember the previous Party Line

The Pony line was pretty famous - Bentley, Bentley, Mosienko - but in recent times the ABC line had one of my all time favorites Kyle Calder with Arnason and Bell.

The old Party Line was Secord, Savard and Larmer no?

Correct on the party line. That line had everything. Toughness, flash and reliability

Don't know that they had a nickname but Larmer, Roenick and Goullet always had a special place in my heart. Admittedly that was as much about NHL 94 as the actual play on the ice. "It's not so much me, it's Roenick."

The LRG Line? :)

Not a Hawks line, but one of the most clever nicknames I remember was the Vowel Line in Nashville: Erat, Arkhipov, and Orszagh. Was centered by a Hawk, tho...

It's not really a line, but by the time they hang up their skates, 'The Nuclear Option' for Kane and Toews is going to be up there as on of the best, most fitting nicknames around.

No cups from that group but so many great memories, Savard was the most exciting player that I ever saw, that shortie against the Oilers no player could do. Foley still regards Larmer (grandpa) as the greatest Hawk ever.

Savard I believe was already traded to the Habs but will never forget big Al, those 4 goals against the Leafs in under 8 minutes was an exciting moment, 3 of those from slap shots in full stride the other I think was a deflection.......and that 54 goal season with well over 300 penalty minutes (NHL record).

Speaking of Secord, does anyone remember a playoff game in St. Louis where Al Secord just body slammed the Blues player when he got pissed at him. I want to say it was Harold Snepsts. Incredible strength

Don't recall that one but remember a time when the North Stars and Hawks were playing in Minny, Ciccarelli and Al were lined up for the fo and just before the puck was dropped Dino starts yapping, Al took one soft swing and man it was powerful and rocked Dino enough he backed off, the Minny crowd went nuts giving Al the raspberries and the chants Secord sucks went on for a long time. He could have killed Dino but he was respectful and did not want to hurt him.

There was a time in Minny when Al got a game misconduct after a fight, the Minny crowd let him have it shouting Secord sucks over and over and as Al was skating off the ice he gave the crowd the finger. He got fined for that incident.

I will never forget the game i went to when the Hawks and Oilers were playing in the old barn when the Savard line got into a scrap, all 10 players were tying each other up when Jaroslav Pouzar sucker punched Al , Al went nuts but the Linesman and others grabbed him so he could not get back at Pouzar. He was going to kill him. On the way home during the post game show Tallon and Foley said "Pouzar better keep his head up next game they play each other"

The dude was popular. My son and i were at a game at the UC during the 2015 season, he was there signing autographs, my son waited for quite awhile but the line being so long unfortunately had to be cut short by the UC staff.

Last I saw Al was up in the rafters when he worked with Wolves, he was always very accommodating to the kids. Great guy.
