Just read as per Elite Hockey Prospects that Kevin Gravel is on his way to Manchester from St Cloud State. It doesn't say whether the Kings signed him only that he's on his way to Manchester. Perhaps Lombardi and Gravel's agent are dickering and posturing!

Wait a second. Why would the Monarchs sign Dowd and Mersch to ATOs as well if those two both have ELCs with the Kings already or is this a Forbort situation where the ELCs are for next year (2014-2015) and they are on ATOs through the rest of the season?

i'm not a contract or CBA expert, but i think you're on the right track TM. Dean

can get them in with ATOs for this year due to the # of games of remaining and then next season the ELCs kick in. gives Dean a season of not having to burn their ELC status

that's my guess on the situation

Trying to get the info for you right now but I believe this is the case.

Capgeek has both Mersch's and Dowd's contract starting 2014-15, FYI.

Probably Got Bonus Money!

I'm thinking that Dean had to throw some bonus money at Mersch,Dowd and Gravel so as not to burn a year on ELC. Not sure how much but I'd venture to guess in the 6 figure category as a low point.

I bet. Not much of a selling point otherwise; even if the guys wanted to be there their agents would have been screaming foul. I'm sure there was some creative accounting going on behind the scenes.
