Even when everybody is healthy the Leafs are going to need a center, Minten has filled in and he's done very well scoring the game winner against Vegas and getting an assist on Marner's 2nd goal yesterday.but chances are Minten isn't ready to be the 3C just yet.

Holmberg won't cut it.

I believe Granlund will be a major target for the Leafs.

What does a deal look like?

At $5M in salary and likely requiring a 1st or 2nd+ to acquire, I doubt the Leafs make him a priority over defense depth.

A 1st would get the Sharks’ attention but you’d probably want to send cap dumps back to them and get a third team to retain which would probably cost a 4th.

I don’t really want to add granlund to the team

Firstly, he is another playmaker which we have a lot, I’d rather target a goal scorer

Secondly, his opportunity here will he greatly diminished and so will his impact. He’s not getting PP1 time, and probably getting 2nd-3rd line minutes. I don’t know how much of a boost he will provide given his cost.

Thirdly, it’s a small sample size and never deep, but he isn’t an impact player come playoff time. I get that minny and Nashville are where offensive numbers go to die in the playoffs, but after the jarnkrok experience, I’m hesitant to trade for a guy who isn’t that great come playoff time

Lastly, I think the market is going to drive up his price. I don’t see any scenario where he doesn’t get a 1st+. We don’t have that many assets, so we have to spend them very wisely.

Good player, just doesn’t fit our need IMO.

He's a better center then Kampf and Holmberg combined therefore he fits our needs

The Leafs should try to snag Christian Dvorak in a bigger deal with the Habs. He fits that 3C role a bit better than Granlund would. The Habs would probably make the cap work and the cost wouldn't be overly high.

He's got connections to Marner and Nylander from junior hockey also played with Matthews at the WJHCs. Fits that gritty, two-way type and has a bit of a sneaky good shot.

Personally I've never been a big Dvorak guy, but I could see that as an addition, not only does he have the connection with Marner but I believe Treliving was still there when Arizona drafted him in 2014.

Not the guy I want as my #1 trade target, that's flips between Brock Nelson and Yanni Gourde.

But Dvorak is absolutely an addition I could see them making because even at 50% retained I don't think it costs much.

I actually love this suggestion. Dvorak, with a low cap hit, would be a fantastic add for Toronto.

Don’t really need defensive depth, a center is by far the priority.

Just not a realistic one, as much as I love the player.
Every team who plans on making out of the first round needs defensive depth. Or put another way, yes, you're probably right about the Leafs not going after any D 😆
