I'd have to agree with these grades

I dont know enough about each player to give the pick a grade. But I give DL, Futa & Co. an A overall.

They did pretty much exactly what I was expecting... Draft a skilled winger in the 1st round, make a move to draft several D (and I had predicted one of Vey or Nolan would be moved to get more picks). Draft a single G that is a long-term project, and restock the C position.

Basically every position got some attention, most with longer term projects that will continue to play in their respective leagues for 2-3 years before making any transition to the pro game.

This was not a draft with top end, elite talent. I think the guys that went in the first round, a lot of them are horribly overhyped (including Ekblad) by the media just needing to have a story to tell.

#29 Kempe (A) Good sized power forward than can skate.
#50 McKeown (A+) In my opinion the best player we drafted, can do everything.
#60 Lintuniemi (B) Big guy that can put up decent numbers, his +/- was terrible.
#90 Amadio (B-) Average. Decent size. Thats all I got.
#120 Johnson (C+) I dont see this guy making the NHL, will be in the AHL his whole career.
#150 Dillon (B) Large guy in net, much like Jones. Has potential.
#157 Marchment (A) Really like this pick, guy can score and is tough as nails. Already better than Fraser..
#180 Mistele (B) Guy can score but dont see him making it to the NHL.
#209 Watson (A) Good speed, good hockey sense, really like the guy.
#210 Middleton (C+) Meh, maybe a #7 Dman in the future.

Too hard to grade each pick. It's kind of like these draftees reading some print and reviews with some video clips about you and your job and asked to grade what you do, if you think about it.

I really like how the Kings staff goes after character, competitiveness and
the makeup of the players. Like Futa said about drafting Jordan Nolan in the
7th round. How they knew he would work and compete to overcome.
They look for players that have abilities, but know that the development
team can get them to where they need to be, with the work and
commitment it takes.

I really believe Kempe, McKeown and Lintuniemi make it and become
good NHL players. All 3 have either been captains or alternate captains
on their national teams and that says a lot.

It was a good draft for the Kings. The talent was not great this draft. Kings landed some solid hard working kids.

Futa/Lombardi did good.

Too hard to grade each pick. But people are going to fall in love with McKeown. This kid can do it all.

Interesting that a lot of posters gave high grades to Watson. A-, B, B+, A, A, A, Mr. Almost Irrelevant.

Do you suppose Nick Ebert will go over and introduce himself to Middleton at camp? "Hi Mr. Irrelevant 2014. I'm Mr. Irrelevant 2012. Let's show them a thing or two."
