Grade/Discuss Casey Cizikas

He gets an A+ and deserves it. Tons of heart, plenty of skill for a bottom-6 player, great PKer, a leader who's been through a lot and has overcome it, nicest athlete I've ever met. I could go on. He stepped up hard in the playoffs.

I could watch these goals all day and almost cry:

i voted b+ , but i feel he can, and will be better. hes the type of guy you'd love to have on your team, but hate to play against. hes physical, gritty, comes thru in the clutch, and gives 100% during every shift. I can easily see him becoming one of the best bottom 6 guys in the league. my kind of hockey player.

if he was 2" taller, everyone would be saying that he's a top 6 player. but i think he will be top 6, in a few years. a B and still improving...

I gave Zeeker a B+. He certainly looks like a keeper and I love his motor. He could top out as a #3C, but he's perfect for the 4th line right now. I could see him emerge as a major PK asset for us this season, I still marvel at that crazy shift he had for Team Canada during the WJC. He was a 1-man PK unit.

Also glad to see the kid overcome adversity during his Junior days. This kid absolutely reeks of character now. His best days are ahead of him too!

Love the kid. Zeeker is one of my favorite Islanders. Such a spark plug for this team giving us one of the best 4th lines in the league.

A- for now.

Zeeker is well positioned as 4th line center. In the future he has what it takes to play 3rd line minutes at either center or wing. This kid is all hard work and effort sprinkled in with just enough talent to make him a valuable glue guy in a winning organization. He could wear a letter some day also. I gave him a B+ with and upward trend.

B-. Great first season. I want to continue seeing more consistency than in the ahl and hopefully an increase in points.

Zeeks is already a fan favorite, with his strong physical play, intense work ethic and chips in with points occasionally. A- for me.

I may have missed it in the original "grade" thread, but what is the criteria that we should use to grade someone? I've stayed away from these because I'm not really sure. Is it an objective criteria where everyone is judged the same? Is it based on someone playing up to their potential? Filling the role we think they should have? Effort level?

The grade could change greatly depending on the criteria. In some cases, Zeeker could be rightly graded as an A and Okposo a C+ but that wouldn't fairly represent their overall worth and skill level.

To the question at hand, I love Zeeker. I hope he stays here long term and moves beyond being simply a 4th liner. To me, he's a poor man's Ryan Callahan and his upside could be similar to Callahan. In addition to being a tenacious, never give up-kinda guy, he has some legit skill that I think will manifest itself over the next few years.

And he seems to be one of a number of guys on this team that really appreciates what the Islanders have done for him. Its really refreshing to see in today's age of "Pay me!" athletes. Love for him to be part of the long term core.

i based my B on the regular season. he really stepped it up in the 6 playoff games and was one of the better players in the entire series. Casey is going to be as integral a part as a bottom 6 forward can be on this team. He brings every aspect you ask for from a bottom 6 guy and has ability with the puck...something the bottom 6 lacked with guys named reasoner, pandolfo, boulton, etc.

I didnt want to go A or anything higher than B bc then its like he peaked. He has room to get better, and i think he will. A great kid to boot. The story about his past and how people want to see him succeed really speaks volumes as to what kind of person he is.

He's ok, but I think we have better in our pipeline. I see him as future trade option for someone we will need.

Based on his role (which should expand a bit IMO ie. #1 PK unit) he is a damn near perfect player. I love everything about his game. His energy, his offensive ability, his defensive ability. He is the perfect 3rd/4th liner.

I am SO excited for the 3rd & 4th line this year. I truly believe it has the potential to be one of if not the best bottom 6 in the NHL. So much character, energy & a fair amount of skill too.

DROP THE PUCK!!!!

A. He already reached his potential. If he plays all season like he did in the second half last year and in the playoffs, he's a fantastic 3rd/4th line center. Even if he regresses a little, he's still a good role player.

how can you say he has reached his potential? :amazed:

i guess hamonic cant get any better because he already surpassed what the pundits predicted

A+, as far as how he played his role, and given what the expectations were. He'll still get better, but IMO he was as good as we could have hoped for this past season.

Ive been waiting for this one.
A+
I referenced him in the Hamonic poll as the only person left who deserves an A. Could a rookie comparable to cizikas put up the points he did while averaging the lowest ice time as any of our forwards who played a majority of the games.he was also 3rd or 4th in points in the playoffs with lowest average ice time. on top of that he is a complete heart and soul guy. Don't think he could of had a better rookie year. Easy A+ for me. A full season would have been nice though.
