Last season I was able to watch the games through MSG+app and cast it to my tv and didnt have any issues.

This season they make you go through the Gotham Sports app to watch MSG. When I watch on my phone the game streams fine, but when I cast it to my tv its choppy and laggy. This happening to any one else?
I searched online and some people say this is happening to them and others say its been fine, very frustrating

On the topic of this, is the app coming to LG smart TV's soon?

Regarding casting it, I'm having the same issue as well. It works a bit, and then lags/is choppy. I wonder if it depends on what type of phone you have.

Theres a whole thread on Reddit of people experiencing the same issue. My phone casts other apps no problem. No wonder why people stream illegally....

Watching on a Samsung smart tv. Gotham sucks. It is constantly buffering and the screen goes black. I’ve emailed (no response) and chatted (they said I was using an old version of the app but I was on the current version). Going to call next. This never happened on MSG+ app.

Hey anybody currently using this app? Did it get any better? Can you watch old games or start games from the beginning if you join late?

Thinking about dropping Fubo for Hulutv+ but need a way to watch Rangers games then.

So any input is appreciated

Yeah you can watch previous full or condensed games, plus other MSG programming. Not sure about joining live games late. Picture quality is good on your phone or desktop PC but takes a hit when you cast on your TV, though your mileage may vary.

Thanks. The picture quality comment worries me

I remember there were alot of issues when it first dropped. Is the platform any better? Like lag time or games freezing.

I've used it on Roku since Optimum dropped MSG (it's back now) and it's worked really well. i haven't had any freezes or anything and the picture quality is awesome. the only issue is that the sound is always like half a second ahead of the picture.

I've not experienced freezing anymore. Freezing and dropping were frequent earlier in the session, so it seems they've addressed it. The lag in my experience is like 10 to 15 seconds, or a few plays on the ice behind live.

Casting is garbage with this app.

You get like 10fps which is noticeably choppy for sports. Especially when there is a lot of panning and zooming (like say... hockey).

I also can't seem to consistently get the cast button to work. What I have to do frequently (around 95% of the time) is to disconnect my phone from wifi after i start streaming on my phone, wait for my phone to connect to my mobile data provider, and then immediately turn wifi back on. Once that happens, the app immediately shows the cast button. It's like the developers are only[ polling for available casting targets when it detects network changes.

I cast to both "Chromecast with Google TV" and an LG TV depending on where I am in my house, same issues with both (choppy playback).

I luckily avoid the choppy playback, which was the reason I had to watch all of last season on desktop with MSG+. It couldn't cast, period. But as I mentioned the picture quality isn't nearly as crisp on TV as on computer monitor. But yeah, the cast button comes and goes on the mobile app. I use the desktop site to cast, as it doesn't have that issue.
