Post-Game Talk: Good team so obviously Leafs dominate

Dang, missed the game cuz I fell asleep after a gruelling work week (with the game on in front of me, couple beers did me in after the first lol)

it's looking pretty likely, not certain though, that we play Tampa Bay.

I'm cool with it for sure, something different, let's take on the back to back champs!

But.........the jersey clash?!?! Yuck, I mean ours are great, but I wish somehow (I know it won't happen) that our home games Tampa wears their old uni's, and maybe in Tampa the Leafs could wear their St Pats jerseys.

Or bring out the 3rd jerseys for whoever is on the road? And think of the jersey sales for both teams!

Oh well, let's just make sure we get home ice.
 
Nylander's first goal gave me pleasant memories of Sundin's 500th vs Kiprusoff, though Willie had more speed. Just nice to see a Swedish rightie skate down the wing and rip it from a good ways out.

How did the game seem on TV? I was there tonight and it seems like the fans were pretty into it.
 
Is there a statistic that shows how many times your goalie gets run/knocked down in a season? I'm guessing if there is and goalies have access to it, they may up their life insurance policies.

Campbell needed a break mentally. no problem, he seems fine now. He NEEDS protection. If we lose him. It's over. Please, protect the damn goalies.

For the record I'm not saying Wilson ran him. He still plowed him pretty well and hopefully it's reflected in a statistic of goalie hits. I'm guessing the Leafs in this statistic, if it exists do not fare well. That being said. NICE WIN!!

On a serious note: Hearing the caps commentators dejected tone after Mikheyev's goal was awesome.

Clifford playing with Simmonds made the most sense as they csn play with a pack menality. They can play a hard gwme knowing they have a wingman to back them up.

Blackwell is the right player in the mix due to his tenacity, speed, forecheck and drive. It's an effective mix to negate other teams hard nosed players while also generating some energy. . Dump it in,. hit and cycle. Wear down the opposition defense.

Consider the Rangers when tbey had to deal with Wilson last year. They picked up Reaves in the offseason. This wasn't a coicidence.

It's not about having goons, it's about some players who play a heavy game and will stick up for their teammates. Whether it's guys hitting everytning that moves or others who are willing to take on players, the identity of being "tougher and resiliant" is vital.

That works as long as they are good enough to get the puck out of their One and sustain a forecheck.

Doesn't work if they get hemmed in their own end most shifts.

Muzzin isn't better than Holl, he's worse, at least Holl can skate a little.


Carlson walks in with 0 SPEED, all he does is pivot to the backhand -- AND POOF, Muzzin is completely lost.



You're telling me this is "solid" defense? The only reason we won was because we scored 7.
Muzzin is a horrible defender at this point in his career, his legs are completely gone due to injuries and lack of defensive IQ.

I'd rather put Holl or Sandin in over Muzzin.

I was under the impression building a 6-1 by limiting a team to 15 shots and winning the physical battle while filling the net was a good thing.

One of the best 60 minute efforts of the year. They had no answer for a Mikey and Engvall speed. That’s also what I expect from the fourth line. Fun game to watch.

Well, obviously that one cherry picked play tells more about the team than the entire game. Limiting the shots against, and playing well defensivly is irrelevent. Caps shut us out 1-0. Based on Carlson's goal.

On show me all the other clips to substantiate your claim about Muzzin please.
He got caught and Carlson crosses him over good. Fortunate timing for Carlson.
And zero speed? Carlson accelerates like a Lambo on launch control
 
There are alot of game in the season
They already got their playoffs locked in
I really don't blame them for playing worse against worse teams
What matters to me is how they play against the other top teams because in the end they are the ones we have to beat in the playoffs
anyone figure out our record this season on wins/losses against top/bottom teams?
