This tournament was basically a microcosm of Murray's up and down season.
If I'm Canada I'm not too upset with silver medal not having the following players..
Crosby
McDavid
MacKinnon
Bergeron
Tavares
Marchand
Doughty
Burns
I'm probably missing few others but that's best of the best Canadians who didnt play
They do a great job of doing what they need to do in order to have a chance to win. Anything can happen in single game elimination, and they do a great job playing to that format. They have produced more skill in recent years and given their population it is quite impressive, but they have always been a team that could perform above their individual skill level on their roster.Im not sure why Finland are considered underdogs, they beat us twice, Sweden, USSR, and even Great Britain.
You guys simply have a really good team and hockey program as far as I can tell and you should be proud of that.
How different is this compared to Finland's 2011 title?
Yes because Finland went from their A squad to B squad, while Canada went from their A squad to C squad. Most of these players wouldn't make Canada's 2nd Olympic team, and only maybe one or two of them would have been on Canada's olympic team (Stone and Murray likely as a backup/3rd string).
Anyways I was more just responding to that poster and not taking anything away from the Finns so I'd rather not comment on it anymore. Finns played a great game and deserved the gold after knocking off Russia and Canada. Congrats to them on a well deserved gold medal.

That's trueBarkov, Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Teravainen, Granlund, Heiskanen, Ristolainen, Vatanen, Rask, Rinne, Lindell didn't play for Finland.
Dn't use roster as an excuse.
Lol what? No it isnt, credit to Finland for whipping our ass when it counted, and it really is impressive what they accomplished with the team they had on paper, but this does not even come close to the Miracle on Ice.This is bigger than miracle on ice.
Soviets didnt had any NHL players when they lost to USA.
Finland won over Canada with 0 NHLers. 0 vs 23.
So you dont take Kakko before McCann, Joseph,Turris or Bertuzzi!?
We could continue this list forever. Our opponents has NO EXCUSES. OUTPLAYED BY LIIGA. LET THAT SINK INBarkov, Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Teravainen, Granlund, Heiskanen, Ristolainen, Vatanen, Rask, Rinne, Lindell didn't play for Finland.
Dn't use roster as an excuse.
Canada usually bring up their what if roster when they lose.Barkov, Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Teravainen, Granlund, Heiskanen, Ristolainen, Vatanen, Rask, Rinne, Lindell didn't play for Finland.
Dn't use roster as an excuse.
This means everything for us. We can't even explain this.
And? That Soviet team was able to beat a team of NHL all stars. What's your point?Oh plz, soviets didnt had a single NHL player.
This is a bigger miracle. Deal with it.
Literally none of these players except Kakko in a few years would make an olympic roster.
