I'm more surprised that the Angels have never had a 100-loss season. They've been a pretty big joke for a long while now, even recognizing that the Sox are a bigger punchline this season.

That is kind of surprising, as they have been around a pretty long time, I wonder how many other teams can say that

Edit:
After some quick research, it would appear that the Angels are the only current franchise that hasn't had a 100 loss season ever

Even for a fairly young team that's crazy, usually the expansion teams are good for at least 100 loss year in the first 2-3 seasons. It seems like the ownership has always been ok with at least spending some money and never completely tanking, maybe they feel some obligation since they usually draw pretty good crowds historically

It’s a lot harder to lose 100 games with the talent leveled out the way it is, unless you’re doing it on purpose.

I was looking at how long it's been since teams lost 100. The Phillies history is inept but they haven't since 1961. The Mets 1965, the Braves in 88. The Cardinals, Dodgers, and Yankees before World War 1. It doesn't happen as often as I thought.

Fitting it came against the last team that had a chance to break that barrier in the Tigers given they lost 119 games like 2 decades ago.

It doesn't and its crazy to think we had four 100 loss teams a piece the last four full seasons (and 3 in 2018):

2019: Orioles, Tigers, Royals, Marlins
2021: Orioles, Rangers, Pirates, DBacks
2022: A's, Reds, Pirates, Nationals
2023: A's, Royals, White Sox, Rockies

Tracking for 3 this year unless the Rockies win their last two.

The White Sox beat a hung over Tigers team, so against all odds, they do get to 40 wins.

Disappointed that they didn’t end with 122 or more, but 121 losses is still incredible suckage. It took 62 years to break the record. I wonder if it will still be standing 62 years from now.

Being this bad day in and day out requires commitment. Commitment at all levels. Well done.

Can we stop talking about this flaming garbage heap of a team? They don't even deserve the virtual piece paper this thread is written on

Tired of hearing about the Whitesox
